Wall cabinets flush with range hood, or leave a gap?
Comments (38)This is an interesting thread. I think both ways can look good and both ways can look bad (hood flush with cabinets or hood with space next to cabinets). The more you stare at the photos the funnier they look. In the OP I immediately liked the second photo of the hood flush with the cabinet better than the hood with space next to it. After reading all the comments and staring some more it all began to look funny to me. Do what you like and don't be swayed too much by others opinions. Half the folks will love something and the other half hate it....See Morereplace ancient built in double oven odd size
Comments (18)I am presuming that you looked into having the existing ovens refurbished and have decided that that will not work and that you have no interest in redoing that section of kitchen to accommodate a different shape. Then, unless you can increase the width, I think that LindsayMarie79's solution is the best choice....See MoreHelp! 27 9/16" Lacanche Range in 30" Gap? How to Fill?
Comments (10)Lilianne, Yes, SS refers to Stainless Steel :) While it doesn't match the countertops, it would be a nice continuation to the stovetop. Of course if you had "leftovers" from the countertop installation, it might also be possible to cut a strip and secure it in that gap. Our ranges are designed and approved to be installed with zero side-clearance (only a couple mm to allow the stove to slide in and out of its spot). Most of our clients have wood cabinets on either side of their range, with no issues as long as the other requirements are adhered to, like using the mandatory backspacer and ensuring that the oven doors are "proud" of the cabinets. We (or Art Culinaire in the US) can provide you with the installation requirements ahead of time to make sure that all is in order. All the best,...See More40" gas range replaced with 36" induction range now or later?
Comments (10)We're doing what Sabrina Alfin suggested. 36" induction cooktop over a 30" wall oven, with a 6" cabinet on one side to hold cutting boards. BUT, I wish we had bitten the bullet and gone with a range (we're reusing a cooktop we bought a few years ago). Induction cooktops have annoying touch controls. They take cooktop space and they are fussy to use. We should have abandoned the cooktop and gone for a range with front knob controls for the burners. Agree with wdccruise about 40" ranges. We've been stuck with very old low-function appliances for 10 years, because they were odd outdated sizes and new models wouldn't fit our cabinetry. Stick with standard-sized appliances that will be easy to replace....See Morewritersblock (9b/10a)
