Kim, you & I are in thE same boat! Well sort of. My kitchen cabs are about the same shade as yours. Check out my thread in decorating to see my pics. I too have black counters and I am stressing over paint. I'm leaning toward a grey, or a few Greys, but Greys without brown. I've used Behr's Sandstone Cove in LR and that is very neutral so works well. I see you have black accents in kitchen, looks good. But I think you need a pop of color! I GOT SO LOST IN looking at your wonderful house and the view!! Are you near the water maybe, and up high?. I couldnt tell what i saw out there. Gorgeous! Anyway. I think you've nailed it on the brown for the dining area, especially with the lighter floors. The entry door? I also like that deep brown against the brick but you COULD do a deep purple/violet or eggplant there but with the gold in the side light...hmmm. Do I see a burgundy swatch on the kitchen wall? That might look nice. As far as the prints on mantel. I see something more abstract with some color and rounded or wispy shapes to contrast all the straight lines I see, and keep the prints propped in various sizes, 3 of them since you have '2 of' of other things there. Maybe you should build a built in lower bookcase/console unit that would match the trim and put the TV on that where the tv is now. I dont think it should be any higher than the top of the inside of the firebox so your TV would still stay at an eye level. Thats all i have for you right now. Good luck.

Putting beige and gray together in the same space used to be frowned on, but lately I've seen this done rather successfully, for instance where the rug was gray and the upholstery beige. With my light beige upholstery my new carpeting is going to be a warm gray color called London Fog which I would say is more or less greige. However, for a wall color I would probably choose something lighter, more like the solid color of your rug. It's already next to the "yellow" floor and I don't think it clashes. That color would lighten up your living room considerably and make the art on the wall pop more.

If you put more blue in this room, be sure to stick to the same type of blue. You can go lighter or darker, but don't go into a blue that has any green or purple in it - stick to the same blue you have here. No pale pink - that along with your pale blue will look like you are in a bedroom. Don't be afraid of bright colors. Your idea of coral is great - and go with a bright one. Put in top search box: light blue with coral living room in photos (for ideas). Excellent idea for the Moroccan style rug - that'll add a great pattern to this space. Good job!
