Swollen Knee Cap & Leg Cramps
Comments (4)I'll put this succinctly: Gluciosamine-plumps up the cartiledge that is there Chondroitin--builds new cartiledge Celadrin--Lubricates the joint These are all available at your pharmacy. I was diagnosed with arthritis of the knee, but had to wait 6 months for my plan to cover physio. I made the appointment for then. I had heard about Glucosamine so I headed for the pharmacy--sceptical but willing to try anything to stop the pain. The pharmacist recommended Glucosamine with Chondroitin. I started taking the recommended 3 pills a day. By the time my physio appointment rolled around I was completely pain free. I told my friend who has bad arthritis about it and she started taking it too--the full dosage. She can now move joints she hasn't been able to move in years. I told a lady on this site and she tried Glucosamine and celedrin. She posted back a week later that it was helping. You will see lots of things on the internet that says things like it is only a placebo affect. All I know is that I started taking these pills with an attitude that it probably wouldn't work but I was willing to try it and it did work for me and others....See MoreLeg Cramps Update!
Comments (12)I don't fell like I got too much out of seeing a diabetic educator. It was a cookie cutter approach because it was a class. The number of carbs that I was told were okay was way too much for me. I don't recall if it was on this board or elsewhere, but the best advice I have seen was to do some experimenting first - using your glucose monitor to see how you react to different foods. Then, armed with that information and your list of foods that you are willing to eat, you can see a dietician who will help you to plan meals around those limitations. Dr. Oz on Oprah, when asked a question about mercury in salmon said "Don't sweat the small stuff, the first order of business is to lose weight." I think that for diabetics the prime directive is getting our weight down and our blood sugar under control. If that means eating more fats than are optimal for me, then so be it for now....See Moreleg cramping
Comments (1)hi sheila, yes i am having leg cramping also. last night i had such bad pain in my right foot and it moved up to my thigh, it was pretty hard to sleep. i tried putting a pillow under my foot to keep it elevated and it helped some but not much. made me feel like i have a blood clot or something. today it feels a little better. no doctor has really confirmed i am in perimenopause, but my gyno seems to think i am. this is really a scary time for me and i know it must be for you as well. i pray we get thru this time. i will be thinking of you and i hope you feel better soon. take care shirley...See More8 types of drugs that can cause leg cramps
Comments (4)Thanks for posting this, Susan. I'm in the process of lowering my bp drugs ever-so-slowly with doctor's permission, because I need to know whether my fuzziness and tiredness are reactions from the pills or just me. The two I take should cancel each other out concerning the potassium problem, but who knows. I'm back to taking a multivitamin every other day because I feel better when I do so for awhile. I firmly believe doctors are extremely reluctant to consider side effects that aren't "common" or even mentioned in the literature, as long as they're not life threatening; what drug company wants to tell their patients they will probably gain weight on their med? I'm also continuing to think we have been very naive about all this pill-popping our society is so good at, excepting of course the truly necessary. These drugs have to be affecting all our systems, not just the one that needs help. Thanks very much for posting this....See Morediane_nj 6b/7a
