Leg Cramps
Comments (21)I've been suffering the leg cramps for about 6 months now. I hate taking medications and will try anything natural. I've tried calcium and magnesium supplements, olive leaf extract and potassium. All seem to work for a little while then they come back. Went to my local health food store and they suggested a tablespoon of black strap molasses daily. It has worked for about the last 2 months. I've been able to reduce it to about a tablespoon every other day and that seems to be working. I have found that if I miss taking it for a couple of days, they slowly start making their way back. Most of them come on while I am sleeping. The ones in the thighs are the worst, they tend to pull in all different directions, getting out of bed is almost impossible. My husband has to begin rubbing it out before I'm even able to get out of bed to walk. I'm sticking with the molasses for now. I do stretch before going to bed as well. That also seems to help....See Morepainful legs, especially at night
Comments (7)Hi Catherinet. Do you take prescription meds or use herbs? If you do, research the side effects. Some such as chol. meds can cause leg pain. I have Rh. arthritis and have a lot of knee and leg pain, which seems more irritating at night when I'm still and trying to sleep. My girlfriend has fibrom. as well, and also has a lot of stiffness and pain in her legs. We both take Epsom Salts soak in warm tub before bed. You can also make a paste and put it directly on those achey areas, which works even better. Have you noticed the pain is worse during times of stress? Those times are particularly painful. You might also take note of when you have these episodes. Mine is much worse when I've been on my legs that day. I also get some relief by doing gentle stretches before getting into bed. Try leaning your hands against a wall and stretching your leg (one at a time) behind and press down your heel to the floor. It's a good calf stretch. Also, while lying in bed, I bend my lower leg back at the knee and grab my foot, which stretches the upper quad muscle. This one hurts my knees a little if I pull too hard. Hope that helps. :)...See MorePlease help with night stands
Comments (36)I agree with Bronwynsmom in that you have to decide what is inspiring you in the inspiration room. Although the bird headboard is the icing on the cake of that room, if you took the birds away, the spirit of the room is still the same. That specific headboard itself could appear in 10 different rooms ten different ways. The inspiration room is an interplay between a large mass (the bed) and negative spaces (spare windows doorways and bedside tables) and light and dark. Or is it the motifs/individual elements that inspire you? That would be a different dirction for the room. If you are inspired by elements, you could end up with a room that is still quite nice, but completely different than the inspiration. Inspiration can be an interesting thing: I have had clients show me rooms they "loved" only to determine that they disliked many things about it except one key element. And that element was so important in their visualization that they screened out everything else. So, what is it about the room that inspires you? What elements are not important? These are things to think about....See MoreWho's used soap in the bed for leg cramps?
Comments (18)Well, I have to question the placebo effect. My DH has terrible restless leg syndrome, and often leg cramps at night. I didn't tell him, but I put the bar of soap -Irish Spring- under the fitted sheet. It had no effect at all. I tested this, as we were keeping a journal for the doctor, for two months. We were keeping track of the cramps and symptoms nightly. Soap or no soap, no difference. Bars of soap in the sheets can't hurt you in any way, but belief is a powerful medication, so if you believe, maybe it will help. It didn't help my DH at all. And that's why I didn't tell him to start with. I wanted to know without the placebo effect. Potassium has worked wonders, in the form of a banana a day....See Morebetty_the_villages
