These cream/off white cabinets are killing me!
Comments (269)Lol sabbath. Looks great. I wish I could get a better look at the finish on the cabinets. I hate the fake nicks and dings-good on you!! it is funny this just resurfaced because I have been fantasizing about painting my poopy beige walls (never liked them) my creamy white trim color (love). The areas I selected for this incongruously cold beige are fairly low light, including a long narrow hall and high narrow stairwell. But the thing I hate the most about it is how close-but-not-quite it is to my dark cream cabinets. Looking back on this thread I see I loved Kjoy's mockup of the walls the same color as the cabinets and the white door and island painted darker colors. I hated the white walls with the cream here. I think I am sold on the lighter cream for my kitchen though, it shouldn't be as stark as op's stark white and cream. Maybe will post a pic if I get around to it....See More1930s farmhouse: seeking exterior paint color advice
Comments (9)Thank you, everyone, for your comments! I guess we should remove the porch railing! Most of the aluminum storm windows are missing panes so I was planning to replace them with white vinyl when we paint. The windows are an uncommon size, though, so I'm a little worried about the cost. There are only a few original windows, but the "new" ones are from the 70s, so they're all old. All the windows are wood and painted white-- and they're ALL drafty and in need of re-glazing, which is why we need the storm windows! I'm adding a better photo of the front porch-- and the chickens. The color I picked for the front door is close to the color of the sky. sheepla-- is there also no hand rail on the steps of your porch? I'd love to see a photo!...See MoreFinally! Comments (32)Oh I’m so glad your sweet little kitchen reno popped back up! I’d meant to comment on it when you posted it, and then I lost track of it. What a great job! Your material choices are spot on—it all feels right for this kind of house. I love how you treated the backsplash, and I applaud you for reusing the blue sink. It was a ballsy choice, and it totally works ;-) Hope you are enjoying it well!!...See MoreTransforming house into traditional spanish style
Comments (13)My question to you would be why you want to do this to that house. Is it justified in terms of the neighborhood home values? A gf of mine did this to her home, but it was worth, maybe $1.5M, on a nice large lot in a great school district, in a HCOLA area. The home recently appraised for over $3M. So, she got the value of the $1M remodel. BTW, her home is small, around 2,200sf. Depending on where you live, you are looking at a LOT of money. I would be asking experts (realtors) in your area what kind of investment in the exterior would add value to the home. You should know what homes are worth in your neighborhood, and how your home fits into that range of values....See MoreAstrid C
