Everyone is asking for a porcelain slab fabricator close to where they live. What I did was search on Houzz to find local contractors with porcelain slab installations. Then viewing work that they did a few years ago for any cracking particularly around the sink faucets. I did not have good experiences asking the material vendor for contractors for other projects I have done.

Thanks for your reply @User. You explained why slabs in general should be cut. But my question is manufacturing process that rectified (cut/grind) the perimeter should be equivalent to cut by fabricator or not? My guess is that the slabs are made the same way but rectified edge is pre-cut by manufacture and non-rectified edge will be "cut by fabricator". So if a fabricator received rectified slab, they don't have to cut the perimeter again before fabricating it to what ever shape for installation.

IMO a white granite is a much better choice than any quartz for counters polished and it becomes almost bullet proof . IMO any fake stone will never beat rel. Quartz has huge limitations and IMO not meant to be used in a kitchen ever.

To be clear, this is NOT a steam shower. We just asked the installers to follow those waterproofing techniques to ensure everything was sealed, including the ceiling since we tiled that too. Also, am I being unclear somehow? They applied Hydroban Board, mortar, waterproof sheet membrane, and even went in with an extra couple coats of liquid Hydroban before the slab install. My concern is primarily the amount of mortar applied to the back of the tile, which is hard to assess because we didn’t observe it. Some areas seem to be better than others. Unless we observe something is loose, I find it hard to imagine this needs to be fully torn out and redone?! But I appreciate any thoughts the community can share.
