Now, to determine what you can reasonably fit in your kitchen: Add the items together for what you plan to have. Note that with a 10' deep kitchen, your best option for seating in the kitchen is a peninsula, not an island.

The hardwood you hopefully have in an adjacent room, like the dining room. A nice medium deep brown Thus must ask..................what IS the flooring in the rest of your home? Also, what are the counters?

Either leave them as they are, or use the White Dove color. If you try to paint them gray, they won't work with your floors, back splash, or wall color. White Dove will work without having to change anything else. Are you also planning to paint your window trim? You might consider just painting the uppers in White Dove if you're trying to lighten the space.

Re: the uppers only painted or refaced. You have nice taller doors..you have a good hood installed. You have I think a pretty generous space. these are conducive elements for a two finish kitchen. going at the backsplash and then higher up with the lighter theme will be very nice in this space. I think, anyway. Other things along this theme: reface the upper cab boxes only..... replace the doors for the purpose of eliminating the arch and possibly putting on more glass doors. You have a bit of flexibility. its hard to visualize but a good white subway or high quality white backsplash ..whitish cabs w maybe a tweak to get rid of arch and/or glass doors and just neutral light walls will be so different and refreshing.....providing more pics of space will be helpful
