Inspiration pic
I am considering a tall cabinet in my bath remodel like pictured below. Is this still a popular feature? Does it look strange being only on one side? Dust catcher? Opinions please.

Comments (41)mpagmom - So glad I can help you procrastinate! I always have something for you to think about, if you are in need with your own list of things to ponder. Thanks for including the link/pics to the garbage under the sink. I'm open to the idea of garbage or recycling under the sink - or both. I think I'm going to need to decide if I want a 30" with a single bowl or if I want to keep the double sink and go back up to 36". One thing I've been pondering is the location of the sink on the peninsula run and that cabinet being right next to it. Things can get splashy, but I also benefit from counter space on both sides of my sink. Hm... lisa0527 - That website is fascinating, though some parts of it are creeping me out. The botanicals are cool, though. leia_in_lalaland (Love your name!) - Wow, you went to town, and I really appreciate it. Those plants are so unique, I need to look into that more. For some reason, they reminded me of the plant shelves I posted a pic of below. I stuck that in one of my files several months back now, while researching Sochi's living wall. I really like the shelves, but I'm just not sure I can afford to have something that comes out into the aisle. Unless it was high up and didn't interfer with opening the upper cabinet. Floating shelves are one of my favorite things. The picture 6 up from the bottom is also fascinating. It seems they stuck a very narrow upper across the galley wall. I wonder how far that extends. I imagine there's no uppers on the left side, either. It looks very practical and seems not to interfer with the use of the peninsula. The shutters, though, are also intriguing - that pic that shows a set of grayed out shutter doors, especially. I could have a faux door after all. lol Hm..and the tin reminds me of a piece I have in the entry. It hangs coats right now, but could hang towels, I guess. Comments (7)I'm a big fan of folders in Google Drive. Then I can send links to our vendors/builder/realtor/etc for specific folders with images and information I wish to share. This has also worked out well for sharing my upgrade spreadsheet where the builder has signed off on prices and details of upgrades we've added. I love how accessible it is from any computer and google capable device. Plus you can set it to sync automatically on wifi so you aren't burning through your data plan. I love Pinterest as well, but I agree that it's not the easiest to share and manage. It's a good starting point for sorting ideas though. Best of luck!...See Moreiso inspiration pic
Comments (5)It's hard to find exactly what you're looking for. This one isn't exactly centered but gives you an idea. Sorry, can't get the picture to upload: http://moodinterior.com/Ap_Plovdiv_Maritsa_Garden.html You may have to get creative and search for sxs living/dining room combos and photoshop a fireplace in between. Not sure how well this would work but worth a try. Just a rough example, you could remove the drapes and add the type of fireplace you're looking for in between the doors....See More

6 years agoI forgot to mention that if you decide to have a storage tower, you might want to ask your fabricator to install an additional piece of counter top material under the tower. I saw a picture on Houzz with this and asked my fabricator copy it. It raises the tower up 2 more cms (or whatever thickness your counter top is), so that if you get water on the counter, it doesn't contact the wood. Over time, I figure this can make a difference in maintaining the wood cabinet being so close to a sink. In the picture you posted, I suppose a side-splash could be installed, but it might look nicer if you run the counter over the base cab of the tower, and then add the extra piece on top of that. Here's how ours came out. I actually knocked over a large glass of water all over the counter a couple of weeks ago, and none of it contacted the wood before I had a chance to wipe it all up. If I hadn't seen the Houzz photo I wouldn't have thought of this.

Your photo has highly contrasting colors between the cabinets and the walls, and that accentuates the lines and the volume of the cabinets and makes them pop. That can be good. For those that find it too jarring, they can be made to blend a bit more by having colors that more closely match.
In the photo below, the original plan was to have the storage closet as shown on the left and then a run of cabinets with two sinks, two wall mirrors, and three wall scones. You can see the "old" and "new" electrical locations for the wall sconces in the photo below. The cabinet plan was changed to a storage closet on the left, then a run of cabinets with a single sink, a single mirror, two wall sconces, and an added storage/pony cabinet on the right to shield the toilet.
