The salesperson said these were functionally equivalent and to go with the KA version and save a bit of money.

They are both counter depth and are approximately 72” high.

He advised against the equivalent Bosch model because the bins in the freezer were plastic.

Any experience with these models. They are French Door counter depth configurations and 36”.

The KA version has a panel ready option which I will probably go for since I have a small galley kitchen and wood would I think be less of a discordant element than a honking big SS fridge.

Which Jennair model were you considering? They also make a panel ready version in the size you referenced.

ive had the black glass model JFC2290REY a few months now and very happy with it. I wish the door open alarm chime was a bit louder but that’s about my only complaint!

I took a quick look at the Kitchenaid equivalent online and the interior looks completely identical to my Jennair, interesting. If the only difference is exterior styling, between your two choices, I’d pick the panel ready at the best price.

I have the Jenn-Air 36" CDFD sitting in my living room. Not installed yet, but looks great - LOL. I think if you search Jenn-Air fridges on this and the kitchen forum, you'll find that people are happy with theirs. We are installing a separate undercounter ice maker so this will not be an issue. I also chose the JA because of the handles. Other than that, and the liners in the freezer drawers, it's the same fridge as the KA.

We have mostly GE Profile appliances, except DW & MW, and so far are very happy with them. Our DW is KitchenAid and our MW a Sharp MW drawer. When we moved into our house 13 years ago, we purchased all GE Profile appliances except MW...Refrigerator, DW, & Electric Convection Range. Our MW was a Sharp. We also purchased a GE, not Profile, washer & dryer. Our experiences were: Range...wonderful...still going strong when we demo'd in January of this year and is now being used by a family we donated it to. DW...not so good. That's why we bought a KA with the remodel. We have somewhat acidic well water and it corroded the DW. We then got a Maytag and it also was still working fine at demo and is also now being used by another family. Refrigerator...the icemaker did die, but the rest of the refrigerator was fine...we're keeping it as a 2nd refrigerator. New kitchen appliances: GE Profile Electric Cooktop GE Profile Warming Drawer GE Profile Trivection Double Ovens (top is Trivection, bottom convection) GE Profile CD FD Refrigerator w/water in the door Sharp MW Drawer KitchenAid DW The only appliance we've been less than thrilled with is the KA DW...we have to use the heavy duty wash to get consistently clean dishes. All the GE Profile appliances are working just fine.

I had a KA that I liked a lot new, but it got louder in the relatively short time we had it (a year?). Had another older one here when we moved in -- hated it. Replaced with Thermador (Bosch) when we reno'd the kitchen (it had been locked in place by a tile counter). We also added a 2nd DW, so I've had two of them and been very happy with them. I looked at Miele but liked the racking in Thermador and Bosch better for our dishes and I could get two of them for the cost of one Miele. I recently replaced one of the units (9 yrs old?) with a Bosch Benchmark. I'd been waiting for an excuse to replace that one -- we think something got sucked into the pump a long time ago, it didn't drain, but the repairman fiddled with it and got it to drain (warranty call) and it had been running very loudly ever since. I was told it was a user issue and they wouldn't replace the pump and I didn't push it. I just decided I would replace it sooner. And try one with the new third rack. I love how quiet the DW is and I love how well it cleans. Most of the time, it dries as well as the old one which is good or better than any other I've ever owned, but doesn't melt plastics, even on the bottom rack. What I'm still adjusting to is the changes in the racking -- the third rack and the difference in the tines. That happens with every new DW -- they just keep changing the layout of the racks. Sometimes it seems great and mostly I like it, but I still reserve the right to get frustrated when I have to think harder and move stuff around more than I care to. Not sure of the details of the model you are considering, but Bosch offers at least three different baskets plus the third rack. If you are used to carrying the basket with you to unload, you might care more about which basket you get more than someone who uses the third rack for flatware. We are using one half of the silverware basket most of the time for flatware and the third rack for utensils, prep bowls and smaller measuring cups. I probably need to try using only the third rack and see how that impacts loading the lower tack, but I haven't yet. I can't give you any reason not to buy the Bosch -- but do be prepared to be friestrated form time to time while you figure out the differences in how you need to use whatveer you chose.

Our KA never worked well from Day 1. [KUDS03STSS - KitchenAid Architect Series II] I had to wash everything on "Heavy Duty" to have a hope that most things would come out clean. I don't know if we ever had a load of completely clean dishes! That said, it was from 2008. They may have improved since then, but I have no desire to try again! When that DW finally died my DH told me to pick the next one as he had picked the KA that we both hated! He told me to "check with the Forum"! :-) We replaced it with a Bosch 800-series. It is so much better! It has the third rack, if you like that for silverware (I don't - we also store our silverware at it's point of use, not next to the DW), but it also has two baskets (that attach to each other or that can be separate.) I use the third rack for shallow items that often get turned over and filled with water when they're on the other racks - e.g., measuring cups. My DH was dubious about the lack of a drying element, but if you leave it closed for awhile, everything except the plastics dries quickly. I've never had a DW that did a good job of drying plastics, so it's no different. As an added bonus, I don't have to worry about "top rack only" dishes - they can go anywhere!

The interior seems to be completely identical - complete with online complaints that the back shelves don't go back completely so some people have had issues with small things falling in the back. My question being who the heck stores SMALL things in the back of a refrigerator shelf anyway :-)

The usual online complaints you find with EVERY brand - i.e. too loud or unreliable but unless complaints are consistent, I discount since I assume dissatisfied people are more likely to kvetch and therefore that kind of a sampling isn't necessarily accurate especially when both brands receive a lot of excellent reviews.

I had gone to Snyder Diamond in Santa Monica and Eric the salesperson was truly excellent. He was completely knowledgeable and steered me towards not the most expensive options when there weren't really functional differences. If you are in the area, I highly recommend.

Oddly the prices of the Jennair and KA equivalent models are similar on-line when I was looking at specs at ABT. Of course, there might be discounts for KA which might not be available for Jennair that make Jennair costlier. They are both Whirlpool and I assume it's only branding - maybe the door handles are different? :-)

Yes, it’s true, my fridge shelves also do not extend fully to the back. And I have yet to have anything fall back behind! Not hard to store small things elsewhere.

You are lucky to have found a knowledgeable salesperson. I took a chance, sight unseen, on the Jennair, because I read good reviews on the black glass, and I had good experiences with the Jennair brand- had bought a floor model Jennair beverage center that has been fantastic. Both fridges are relatively quiet. Also, when I gutted my 1982 kitchen, the only original appliance, was a Jennair cooktop that still worked perfectly.

since they seem virtually identical except for exteriors/handles, etc. I dont think you can go wrong with either model. I spent months price shopping and never saw a significant discount off MSRP on Jennair, can’t speak for Kitchenaid. I was hemmed in by my desire for a black exterior to match my black Aga legacy range; and that narrowed the choices quite a bit.
