Do you see what I see?
Comments (14)All the stuff can go on the "cloud" these days. Off site storage. Webshots is changing its whole concept, American Greetings sold it back to a couple of the former owners, and now it will be all up on the Cloud, and upload there from your cell phone, your computer, maybe your camera but I don't know yet. Not for public viewing, just for folks you give access. And not in albums, have not figured out how to keep thousands of photos organized. So I will wait and see before I opt in to the new service. Meanwhile, Amazon has cloud, ASUS has cloud, and perhaps you can do a backup to a cloud. Sort of like space debris floating around out there, huh..... Sorry about your burglary. When I went north for a couple of months last year, my pet babysitter and yard dude parked his extra car here, came to watch TV, played with the animals, did the lawn, etc, changed the lights, left on music or TV late hours. So it seemed someone was home. He is a real friend! Love having a botanist for a yard dude, even if it is only till he finds work again. Note: I also never reveal my schedule of coming and going to any neighbor. So far, so good. When I worked offshore and was gone 6 or more months at a time, I used more strategies than that. That is why I named my place on the bayou MoccasinLanding. I also hung huge snake carcass mounted on a board to the tree by my little dock, with the sign, MOCCASINLANDING....PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE SNAKES. The grass got a bit high back there, and nobody ventured into my property. Moccasins are very aggressive snakes. I recognized the subject line as the Christmas carol. It almost "sings itself." Do you hear what I hear.....> Yeah, Theresa posts using Les' username. I think that is where Les chose to name Theresa's Angel Garden. I'm into names, so I notice those things. :) A little off this topic, but about hosta: I got my very last hosta order today, from WadeGatton. 21 plants from them. I also need to list the order I received from Hallson, and of course from Don Rawson, to wind up the season with a flourish worthy of Arthur Fiedler conducting the 1812 Overture. .....However, my little maltese boy kept me up all night last night throwing up, had to take him to the vet, and he is still very weak and cannot stand up. He is in my lap at this moment, muzzle resting on the crook of my arm. Little ole man is almost 13 and he is precious. So indeed I cannot set him down simply to type on the computer. Hope tonight is quiet and not a repeat of last night. See you guys on the morrow....See MoreWhat do you want to see in your dentist's office?
Comments (31)I just want to pop back in and say thanks for all the ideas. Love the purse hook idea especially, because there is definitely space for that! The others...like TVs and fish tank...there's just no space. The waiting room is small -- basically a square about 10'x10' with 6-7 chairs and a bookcase. All windows on one side and a reception desk on the other, so no logical spot for a TV or fish tank. I like the idea of mobiles on the ceiling in the treatment area, will look into that! The dr. has a large collection of art/prints all by the same artist that he wants to use, so they will be hung throughout the space. There is one wall next to the open doorway to the treatment rooms -- it is about 3' wide and the wall perpendicular to it (to your right as you enter the treatment room) is about 4' wide. So it's a little corner spot that I need to use in a way to "stop the eye". (The dr said some patients like to peer down the hall to the treatment rooms -- from their vantage point in the waiting room -- and say hello.) I thought about a tall tree decal because that would be big and colorful and take up a lot of space. Other ideas? It can't be a coat rack or coffee machine because we don't want people congregating over there (it is just beyond the reception desk, maybe 9-10' from the waiting room seating. Depending on what's left in the budget, I could also see about getting an artist to actually paint a tree there. (This ties in with the dr's art collection, which are mostly landscapes.) What do you think?...See MoreWhich of these hardware options do you think works best? PIX
Comments (18)Apologies for the long absence. *sigh* Our desktop crashed, and I may have a bit as well. :) We're still waffling. I'm glad I didn't order anything months ago. The space is mysteriously getting more and more contemporary. Two weeks ago, DH and I wanted Option #2. This week, it's #3. The cabinets turned out so sleek! Definitely, though, I'm thinking pewter or brushed nickel or chrome to go with the appliances and faucet. I think those of you who said it'd be too much going on are right. That poor chandelier is just going to have to stand alone. I bet I'll get used to it with time. Mysterymachine, your post makes me laugh every time I read it! I should give your vote extra influence, with that amazing kitchen you turned out. (Okay, now I feel I need a disclaimer; bc everyone's kitchen is amazing!) Laurie, thanks for the vote! Flowerchild, thanks for the link. Those pulls would be great with the chandelier but a bit heavy with the other kitchen elements. Ok, a couple of OT thoughts. First, now that I'm fully recognizing my split-personality decorating style, I really get how some of you have done this several times. Second.... rats, I need more coffee. Completely forgot. Maybe something about how organic this process has been even though I thought I had a set plan long ago. Amy, np with your question. Thanks for bumping this back up, though I missed it Sunday. (I wanted to respond to the last three posters but hesitate about dragging my issues back up after so long!) We are still getting the Basalt Slate, sometime in the next couple of weeks. Templating is this Friday. Hopefully the counters won't take too long. I know most laminates are in stock, and we got really lucky with the engineered quartz. Our installer happened to have our choice in stock, available, and in the right size! Woo hoo!...See MoreLsandler do you have pix of your kitchen?
Comments (8)Thanks, armomto3boys, kelleg and redroze for your good words. It is much appreciated. Can you give me the details on the fridge wall cabs? The color is Brandywine stain with Expresso glaze by Decora. What type of granite do you have? It is called Gold and Silver. I saw it in 5 different places and it looked different in each. What do have in the "hutch?" The hutch hides pipes in half of the right wall cabs. Also, there is a UC refrig. on the bottom right base cab. In the middle is a small copper sink. It is very functional. The color is Teaberry stain by Decora. redroze--you mentioned the hutch arch detail--yeah!! The arch is also echoed in the arch doors to and from the kitchen as well as some toekick valances. I may be crazy but I think the arches trick my eye into making my kitchen look taller. armomto3boys--good for you about the furniture look also. You will find it just "elegantizes" your room. kelleg--I don't think you can go wrong with a hutch. It just adds that little extra to your kitchen....See Morelucky998877
