Pink Evening Primrose - should I thin them out ?
Comments (3)Ken - looking for the cottage garden look. But my concern was more about was I going to be sorry for letting it get out of control, i.e., from what you can see by my pics, was that overkill as far as crowding out my other plants. So, Daylily, I guess I'm more like you...liking it to fill in empty spots. I, too, have some tall 'weeds' with little white thingys on top (like miniture wheat) here and there that will be hard to get down to root, so will follow your lead and just pull up chunks along with the weeds. Like you said, Ken, not like I don't have more....LOL Answers were perfect timing since I wanted to tackle this issue today so thanks to both !! Comments (7)Sounds as if you have a single stage cooling and heating. Y is connected to Y. According to your colors, this is blue. G is connected to G. According to your colors, this is green. W is connected to W1. According to your colors, this is white, though you seem to have two whites. Hopefully you marked which is which when you took them off the old thermostat. R is connected to R. According to your colors, this is red. This is the 'hot' or +24v power wire. C on the furnace goes to C. I guess you configure the 'stat for 'conventional' operation, in your case AC and gas....See MoreSomething is taking bites out of my peony leaves and buds???
Comments (0)I have 2 different herbaceous peonies that have generally been pretty low maintenance. This year, one of them have unfortunately been covered by a plant that have overgrown and I didn't notice til too late. I managed to save it, but it has since been plagued by something that is damaging its leaves. It managed to produce flower buds, but then many buds were getting damaged/eaten by something, so I pruned most of it off. The peony next to it have been quite healthy until now - and I noticed the same thing happening to it. You can see something has taken a bite out of the flower bud! This peony's leaves have only had a few holes in them, definitely healthier than the other one. Could this be slugs? I also found a lot of these little green flying bugs around the peonies (and only the peonies...I have other plants in the garden that they don't seem too interested in). I have never seen them before but there are many of them. They fly and jump everywhere with any movement so it's impossible for me to spray them (I was trying to use an organic insecticide). But I'm not even sure if this is what's damaging my peonies. Does the bite look familiar with anyone? I would appreciate any suggestions! I have some red flower buds that are about to open and am trying to prevent them from getting damaged as well......See Morevisualizemaven
