Design Dilemma living room

Empty TV wall (Suggestions)

Been struggling with this one for quite a bit, the rest of the place has come together nicely.

The colors I have in my living room are: Gold (Accent), black (tables, lamps, blankets), charcoal grey (Couch, ottomans), and an ivory and grey (accent) area rug. The TV is 60 inches and centered to the couch.

Here is the wall I am trying to fill, need suggestions!

"Left side" - Maybe I only need something on this side?

"Right Side"

"Full wall"

Very nice room. Love your art. The accent wall will darken the room, so consider lighter lampshade and a couple more light pillows. Alternatively, have the charcoal accent wall but paint the other walls the light ivory of your rug.

One more idea - large art to cover TV that slides away when you want to watch TV. Looks like you would have room to the left.

I can't think of any vines that would actually grow downwards. Some plants will trail but they won't actually cling and head off down a wall. Climbing hydrangea and Virginia creeper certainly would not behave like that. A well established vine shouldn't need irrigation so I'd look into planting at the bottom of the wall. Is there soil there? If not can you make a bed there? To me it looks the perfect spot for an espalier fruit tree or a grape vine.

Are you wanting just a TV console, or a large entertainment unit? This area could definitely take a big unit ... with the high ceilings, lots of windows, strong fireplace, etc. What is your style? You said you’re buying this house, so I’m assuming this isn’t your furniture? Some various styles of units, just to give an idea: A couple of consoles. I have no idea your preferred styles, colors, etc, so just throwing some ideas out here. :)

Yes, a TV console. You can get them with no interior spaces, but someday you might want to record programs or whatever? At minimum, get something that reaches both windows, and ideally it might be a bit longer. TV should almost certainly come down for better eye level match.

Can you post pics showing the whole room?

I'd think a long (but shallow?) console table underneath the TV would be a good way to anchor it visually. Maybe a plant, vase, or lamp on the console to the left of the TV.

You may need to lower your TV a little, too.

Lower the TV and ground it with a console (roughly 50% longer than TV) under.

All those cables can be hidden in the wall.

Not a fan of accent walls, but in this case a charcoal accent wall would camouflage the massive TV. A wall attached console as in the first photo where you could place art objects would be great, but I see you have HVAC registers there, so it may not work.

The baseboard heat that you have will prevent a credenza under the TV, unless you get a "floating" one, which would look good. Like Beverly pictured in her last picture. I too would lower the TV a little bit.

More images with some accent walls and/or floating shelves or credenzas (if they don't interfere with heat and air flow of your register).

1. Hi Josh, I recommend adding a feature wall to
  this room. You could use cream or soft gray 3d wall paneling or stone. I would
  then add shelves above the TV. Hang these shelves (one long one or two just
  off-center line of your shelf and the end of the TV), equidistant to the top of
  the TV and the ceiling (you may have to move the TV down slightly). Finally I
  would place a floating console on that wall beneath the TV (equidistant from
  the bottom of the TV and the floor).
