Reasonably priced art glass for stairwell?
Comments (3)good morning bruuunoooooooo (why do I feel like I am channeling Robin Williams when writing the greeting???)... There is no such thing as an energy efficient artglass panel. I would also venture to say that while there is no such thing as an inexpensive artglass panel - at least nothing that would be worth displaying - reasonable is possible, depending on one's definition of "reasonable" of course. There are two primary options for displaying an artglass panel in a window - and maintaining energy efficiency. One way is to place the artglass panel between the two lites of an IG (Insulating Glass - or dual pane) unit, and the other way is to mount the artglass panel to outside of the IG - but inside the home. I suppose it would be possible to mount the panel to an existing window to the outside of the home as well, but I would have to ask why anyone would want to do that. From an energy and longevity (of the IG) standpoint, mounting the artglass panel outside of the IG is probably a better option. And, personal opinion, it looks a lot better as well. Whose windows are you considering for your home? Most of the larger and many of the smaller window companies offer artglass upgrades. Some inside the IG, some outside the IG, and some offer both options. Even those that don't advertise might have access to an artglass supplier that you could work with. And as a ballpark figure, what are you thinking of as a reasonable price?...See MoreOn the walls of a stairwell - Need ideas
Comments (9)I didn't get to check this post yesterday and was glad to see some replies today. Thank you. I have thought about re-doing some family photos in black and white or sepia for my hallway or stairwell along the side. The back wall that you can see from the entry has a light fixture below like Newhomebuilders photo. I need to put a new light there and wonder if I should use a sconce aimed up at the whatever-I-put-there. Lindybarts - Wish I had a houseplant that looked that good. lol My thumb is green outside but turns brown when I come in. I killed a fern just like that once. : ( I'm checking out the Z Gallerie website you mentioned. Thank you. Hoyamom - What a cool idea. Has your son seen that photo? I'm sure he appreciates knowing that you're thinking of him every time you see that clock - and many times in between probably. God bless. Newhomebuilder - Thank you for putting the spacing on there. That will give me something to compare too. Had to look at that basket twice. That's unique. I sometimes sit things at the top of the stairs to take down when I go....See MoreHelp with stairwell hand rail design - we're stuck!
Comments (2)You only need a handrail on the knee wall side. If you try to add a tailing on the other side it will look out of place, unless you have little kids and you worry about them climb or walk the ledge, you can put something to prevent that from happening, but it would still be easier to teach them not to go up there....See MoreHelp!! Comments (1)Are you staying with the current color scheme in the other rooms and on the kitchen soffits? Black will look sharp with those colors and echo your pendants; matching the other cabinets in a white of course will look fine too although I would be sure that the white you pick doesn't clash with the flooring. You could also pull a color from the veining of the counter, the grout in the floor tile, or any décor in the adjoining rooms....See MoreDenise Marchand
