Need help with hanging a picture....
Comments (5)My favorite hangers are the Command Picture Hanging Strips. by 3m I used them in my office at work to hang a very heavy picture and when I moved offices I took them off the wall with no problem. The trick is to pull the tab straight down. Also good are the Hercules Hooks. We have 2 heavy batroom mirrors hung with those. Here is a link that might be useful: hercules hooks...See MoreNeed help with this odd window in the wall! (photo)
Comments (5)You could actually use that wall for a series of interesting storage - the bottom of the window appears to line up with the top of the left and right walls - I'd use that as the top of built in units. That incorporate your new fireplace mantel. A series of open shelves, glass doors in the dining area for a built in hutch and closed shallow depth cabinets below. Uppers 12" - 13" deep and base cabinets 15" - 18". You could re-arrange the living space so that the couch (I'm assuming you have one) is facing the window and the two chairs flanking the fireplace are placed opposite of current location. With a tall piece to the right of the fireplace, one a little wider than the width of the arch directly below and two split with glass and open between with a piece of art you'd have a very nice symmetrical and usable configuration. A cabinet builder/designer in your local area could work with you on materials and layout....See MoreNeed help designing odd shaped multi-use room (pictures in comments)
Comments (11)Maybe your dining table down near the french doors, then a round table or ottoman for games with four small scale swivel easy chairs just to the right of the fireplace. You could then turn a chair (or two) to kind of face the fireplace when you want to cozy up and read - it doesn't appear you have enough room right in front of the fireplace for this arrangement without impeding the walkway. Then add a sectional or sofa and more chairs in a conversation at the other end. If you had a couple of chairs with their backs to the bathroom, with room to walk behind them, then the two game table swivel chairs closest to the sectional/sofa could be swiveled to face that conversation area if needed. These are larger than what it appears you have room for, but you get the idea....See MoreNeed help with odd, asymmetrical wall behind bed
Comments (7)This is how the previous owners had the room configured, but we’ve tried every arrangement with the bed. It won’t fit on the wall where the bed used to be, as their bed was a queen and ours is a king. We are stuck in this spot. The curtain idea is interesting! One possible issue we’d run into with that is the door to the closet we have on the right side of the bed....See Moreemilyd2
