Comments (4)For me, electronic filters are the only way to go. The amount of ozone they produce and energy used is negligible. They allow the use of a lower MERV filter while maintaining a low static pressure. The actual electrostatic process then increases the MERV rating of any filter by over 50%. They also require much less maintenance than your typical MERV 15-16 filter....See MoreAprilaire 800 Steam whole house humidifier/de-humidifier
Comments (2)FWW. I had a whole house humidifier installed and a very few years later had a huge mold problem. It's going to cost about $8,000 in repairs. Should get started next month. Be sure to monitor your humidity % every day....See MoreNew Furnace,Humidifier,Air purifier Advice
Comments (8)I live in The Chicago land area. The only reason I mentioned the AccuClean purifier was because one of the salesmen said that it would be one of the only good candidates for one that would catch a smaller micron size other that bigger particles like dust and hair effectively?? I don't need the best purifier, but would like something that works well. I was unsure about it when he said it was filter-less as I heard about some of the older electric purifiers that have magnetized plates that are meant to be taken out and wiped clean and that they are garbage and had a massive return rate once proven so. As far as the air conditioner, I was told that I would save $600 dollars by replacing my conditioner coil with the new system installation but would rather wait since I have more of a fixed budget and would like to use more of my money to get my heating system. Like I said before I don't need the best system and components out there, but would like a good solid system that works efficiently and effectively for a 2500 square foot house. Please also if possible try to use laymen terms as well when discussing product types since I am mostly illiterate when it comes to these systems and components. Thanks again for any help :)...See MoreMister humidifier for Furnace
Comments (8)We can't figure it out, either. Everything was working correctly. The reason he found out about it was that his AC died and they decided to upgrade the entire system. When they pulled the old system there was significant rust downstream from the mister, where when he had installed it there was no rust at all in that section of the duct. I'm not sure what kind of humidifier they have with the new system. I investigated putting in a bypass humidifier on my heat pump system (misters are a no go on a heat pump), but every one I've ever seen takes extraordinary effort to keep it free of mold and mildew, and even then that's not a given. I ended up buying a console humidifier from Home Depot last winter. For my townhouse it works great. Doesn't look great, and takes up floor space, but my dog is no longer the legal means of execution in 4 states during winter months....See MoreUser
