Ming aralia rescue - is it too far gone?

Found this waterlogged Ming a week ago sitting in a lot of water in a restaurant near work and convinced them to let me take it and try to save it. It still had a bit of wilted foliage at the time.

I immediately went on vacation, and asked colleagues not to water it. this is what it looks like today. I’m told the soil is still moist.

It looks pretty dead to me, but is there hope? I go back to work tomorrow; should I repot and if there is root rot as I expect, prune the roots? Or, since it’s the dead of winter in NYC, should I just let it dry out and hope for the best?

Should I also prune the stalks?

thanks for your expert advice I’ve been coveting a Ming for a long time but can’t afford a decent sized one, that size would be around $300-$500 in the city!
