Cabinets are installed - and color is wrong. Venting!!
Comments (69)I hope the OP kept her cabinets in Pure White. The kitchen reminds me of a beautiful one that popped up here some years ago - that of an architectural historian. I think the poster was histokitch or something like that. The cabinets look lovely and I'm afraid, I far far prefer them to the trim colour. If I were going to do anything at all, I'd change the trim to match the cabinets rather than the other way around. The undertones can surprise one. I don't know anything about BM paints but I have a lot of Farrow and Ball paints in my house. The trim in a lot of my house is painted Pointing which is widely described as a clean white, vanilla ice, fresh milk etc. Well, Pointing has a red base. Not speculation but fact as F&B declares it so. Nowhere in my house is that red base evident as it mostly appears either brilliant white or at best a slightly creamy white. Nowhere, did I say? Except, that is, for a couple of our North facing rooms. The same paint, from the same cans etc. is a clear peach colour! You'd never know it is the same paint as anywhere else in the house! (Needless to say, that room is going to have to have a do-over)....See Morewhat color stain would look good on this beam?
Comments (3)The current beam is too narrow and has to be wrapped. The fan base hangs out at least and inch on each side. As far as wrapping it with a certain type of wood, it’s hard to find 16’ boards and I didn’t want to mess with seaming together multiple boards. That said, our local options are pine, Douglas fir, and cedar. We thought the grain on Douglas fir looked nice. I mainly wanted to know if staining the wood dark would be a good compliment to light colored floor. I know some people try to match the floor but I wasn’t sure I wanted to do that....See MoreHELP! Corian install gone wrong!
Comments (60)Joseph: I enjoy reading your well informed comments. I have white Corian countertops in a kitchen that was nicely remodeled by prior owners. I have a 10 and 1/2 foot run of countertop on the longest side. No visible-not even mildly visible- seaming. It has a sink plopped down in the middle and no visible seams. The little strip that runs vertically for 1 inch under the countertop and has to make some angles/turns does have visible seams. But they are quite neat and snug. I also have Corian in the main bath with an integrated Corian sink. It has a 6 foot run with mitered edges and an integrated sink of Corian. Very pretty , seemingly very durable and again, no seams. Maybe we are just lucky in our contractors in OKLA. I hope so as I am getting ready to have serious masonry and concrete work done -storm damage-what a mess.... Anyway the Corian is great and has stood up to teenagers cutting things sans cutting board-lectures followed but it buffed out. Handymen also had to trim it a bit to install a new range which theoretically had the same dimensions exactly as the prior range. Ha ! The deliverymen just left it in the middle of the room . The guys I called are friends and not the highest end professionals but they cut the Corian and wrestled with the range for me. I love the stuff. Heaven knows what I would have had to endure with a tight granite or quartz opening. I don't even want to think about it ! It does not permanently stain either. Easter egg dyeing with a 6 year old just last week. It all comes out. Wine, tomatoes, oils ditto. Cannot recommend it highly enough....See MoreExposed ductwork gone WAY wrong.
