Need help choosing paint color for Kitchen/Living room/Foyer
Comments (0)Wife and I are looking into repainting the interior of our house. You'll see the paint test zones on the wall scattered around. Our house was painted by the previous owners. I just recently finished staining the cabinets and rebuilding the kitchen island. (Mind the mess in the photos!) Anyway Here's the photos. Looking to repaint the entire Foyer. I was considering painting the inside of the front door Red to match the outside... Still not sure. As for colors for the Kitchen/Living area we were looking for something more neutral in the house. The only requirements my wife has is no yellow (apparently its a couples fighting color) and that we don't paint the fireplace wall something that will wash into our white fireplace (unless we can get a recommendation for that too). Foyer is normal white builder paint Foyer front door wall is currently a warm orange color Kitchenette is a warm orange color Kitchen is Cream Family room is Cream Family room main wall is barn red...See MoreHelp with small center hall colonial with no foyer/entryway
Comments (21)Hi Maureen! It is wall mounted. I think it has 4 screws in the back. It does not interfere with our base moldings. I love that the depth is perfect. Ikea has a tall one and a wider one. Just search "hemnes shoe" on ikea and you can see what is available. They hold a ton of our shoes as well as keys, mail etc. I have the wide one in our kids basement are and the tall one in the living room. The backs are mostly open with two support bars that go across that may or not interfere with your moldings. You would have to measure up to see where your molding comes in play. I would be happy to measure the height of the two support bars if you would like. We also used a coat tree in the corner of our living room....See MoreLiving room with foyer/"entryway" is a console a good idea? PIC HEAVY!
Comments (4)Yes, a narrow console table would look perfect there. I have this one from Ballard Designs...it is less than 11 inches deep!! They often have 25% off sales. Good luck! https://www.ballarddesigns.com/martin-2-door-console/furniture/dining-kitchen/buffets-sideboards/376952...See Morehelp with a small living room with front door entry
Comments (13)Cat: If you want the best advice, please provide measurements and a view of the space to the right of the fireplace. Is that a wall facing the door, or what? If so, then a sofa in the layout you like could face the TV, placed on that wall with a great credenza below it. In a small living room, the TV over the fireplace will overwhelm the room the minute you walk in. Is that the feel you want? And you won't be able to do the layout you want with TV over fireplace unless you're going to watch sideways somehow--makes no sense. Stop thinking about "decor" like tiles until after you figure out the layout from some of the pros giving you advice based on incomplete photos, no measurements, no pictures of your furnishings. Many, many Design Dilemmas are solved with the proper layout, but we need to see your upholstered furnishings, their sizes, size of living room (you must have measurements from real estate packet, right?)...See MoreSusan Davis
