180FX Formica 9 Samples arrived- took 5 days from order date
Comments (11)The cardboard has a give and has that plastic satin coating that has a slight texture but is silky also so it is nice looking and is so light that the samples can be moved around easily. But I would have preferred the samples to be on the material that would be used for the counter. I'll take pictures as soon as I can but first I have a few more major deadlines to complete tomorrow. It takes me awhile to download the pictures, label them and send in a link. The samples look like they would be easy to clean with the finish on them....See MoreFormica 180FX countertop?
Comments (8)We sent for sample pieces of our 3 favorite 180 FX laminates based on the pictures at the Formica site. For us the Golden Mascarello was the best because it had larger light chips that ran in patterns throughout. Antique Moscarello had larger light patterns but had very dark pattens as well, making the counter look much darker, something we didn't want. The other sample was Espirito Santo. It had similar color tones to Golden M. but the chips were smaller and more uniform throughout. We just thought the Golden would be more interesting. Hope this helps. If you are not in a hurry, I suggest getting some to see for yourself....See MoreFormica 180fx
Comments (1)Have you gone to a dealership and come home with the large paper samples of both? Have you contacted the company and got both in a real life sample? You need to do both--the paper sample gives you a placemat sized look at a portion of the pattern as well as a small-sized version of the whole pattern (look on the back) and the actual piece gives you a feeling for the surface, touch, sparkle, etc. The Antique Mascarello has some low tones of black and near-black and brown-grays, but it's different from the blue-black of the other pattern I think. Don't think I spent much time with the Blue Storm because it wasn't a match with our project. I really don't know it except for a couple online views. Am concerned about effect of combining your dark-ish appliances, dark floors, dark cabs. The Blue Storm looks like another dark choice. Look at the Yellow River--it has hints of red in it to link to your cherry woods and it definitely seems less dark in a large piece. I saw it on a sample cupboard at a dealership. [disclaimer: I have the antique mascarello myself. It's mottled light and dark, but is generally dark.] Here is a link that might be useful: Browse the 180 FX offerings. Comments (1)They can do a flat deck top as well. Anyone can. The only caveat with postform is the cross seams will flat capped and not the ogee edge. And the expense. It's expensive. Check into a Group A granite. It'll only be a little more money....See Morebrms
