Show off your yellow roses--Part I
Comments (33)Yellow, not my favorite color either, but the previous photos made me realize I like yellow roses much more than I thought! Eureka, one of my best yellows. Apricot shades add to the interest. Graham Thomas, pure yellow Buff Beauty, buffy yellow Honey Dijon, peanut butter yellow (?) Honey Bouquet, pure yellow, fades to a cream yellow Joshua Bradley, gold with orange highlights St. Patrick, banana yellow, pale yellow, sometimes with green tinges (cast iron in heat) Sultry, buff yellow with pink edges Symphony, an Austin that is my favorite yellow Another shot of Bees Knees, a mini I really love....See MorePlease show me your white appliances with white cabinets!
Comments (5)Buffalotina here... When I remodelled my kitchen I already had a white fridge (Amana, nothing fancy) and a white Miele DW which I absolutely love and both were fine and not ready for replacement. The fridge is tucked away out of sight in the breakfast nook and looks OK there because there are no cabinets and the other stuff in there is utility white wire shelving, racks etc. As you see I did the Blue range. I agonized over whether the white DW would be OK but I decided to go ahead with it rather than trying to panel it or anything. My rationale was that as you look at that wall the backsplash is white and the white DW is also in the vertical plane and so I think it looks fine. I also have the small freestanding white cabinet that stands in the vertical plane. Also my cabinets are a very yellowy cream (Brookhaven French Vanilla) and so there was no problem with white on white where the whites might not look good together. That all said if and when I replace the DW and fridge I am tempted to go stainless... but it will probably all depend on what fridges are available at that point. Right now I am lusting over a Liebherr....and that is only in stainless... and when push comes to shove I may not be able to bring myself to spend that much on a fridge. I think I would be inclined to go with what looks more period for the 1915 house...and perhaps showcase the white vintage range and keep it the only white appliance? Good luck!!!...See MoreCould you show me pictures of your glass knobs on your white cabi
Comments (18)I lied (on accident). I got my kitchen glass knobs from Van Dyke's. I don't know what line they are since they didn't state. I do know they're glass. They may be Schaub since they're polished nickel. I just realized that our bathroom knobs are the Amerock since they came in the satin nickel. But we didn't order those for the kitchen since I wanted polished. The knobs look the same though, except for thr base finish. I paid more for the bathroom knobs because Van Dyke's was having a really good sale at the time....See MoreShow me your pics of your fortuniana grafted roses
Comments (28)My experience with Dr Huey in my dry sandy soil is that the plants get stressed much more easily than those on fort. They also get more trouble with Nematodes which greatly reduces flower production. If you have a nice water retentive soil I am sure Dr Huey can do very well as well. But in my area where there is water restriction and there is no rain at all for the three months of summer, sometimes even longer, the roses on Dr Huey are not productive in the really hot months and they need much more water to show vigour. That's why I SP'd all of them, and I had quite a few to begin with as I was attracted to their cheap price. The ones on Dr Huey didn't die when it was hot and dry but they just sat there and did nothing until the rain came. I am not very patient and I need my plants to produce flowers all the time in order to keep me happy....See MoreBenT (NorCal 9B Sunset 14)
