What can I do with this empty wall space
Comments (7)Without any other pictures, I would say no gallery wall there. The wall doesn't have anything centering it but it's also not completely empty so whatever you put there will just look off center....See MoreHow much space should I leave between door's casing and a wall corner?
Comments (14)From a door function standpoint, leave 4" minimum from the corner. This gives you enough space so that the door can open 90 degrees without having the door lever hit the wall. 6" is also common too. You don't want to leave too much space or you are just wasting usable wall and floor space in your room. However, from a maintenance and aesthetic standpoint do head bpath's advice above. The trim should either leave at least 3/4" to 1" wall reveal from the corner or be right up against the adjacent wall. leaving a small space is going to result in an awkward strip of wall color and will be difficult to maintain going forward. In our current house we have a few of these conditions where it is tight between the casing and corner. The last owner wallpapered and we have had extreme difficulty getting old wallpaper out of these corners. In some cases the trim had to be taken off to get good paint and stain coverage on them too....See MoreWhat should I put in the empty space between book shelves? And more?
Comments (16)Hi sparkleivy- I like the blue color and together with the ivory beige it looks sophisticated. I would use the space underneath the TV for either a a table or closed storage. The type of closed storage depends on your needs, whether you need a cabinet or drawers or a file cabinet, but it should be attractive. I would suggest changing around how you have arranging the things on your shelves. Your flag deserves to be displayed with honor. I would purchase a display box for the American flag, they are made of wood with a glass front, and tuck in a dessicant packet to prevent mold or rot of the flag. Make sure you get the correct size box for your size flag. A burial flag is larger. Then put the flag on top of the book shelf. Put the airplane on top of the other bookshelf. Why are you displaying a book with the front facing out like that? Do you have a living room? Do you entertain? Should your liquor and glasses be in a bar piece in the living room or is that bookcase the bar piece?...See MoreWhat should I do with my empty kitchen wall?
Comments (28)Agree, wait. We’ve had several homes on our street sell in the last two years and all of them have required some unexpected outlay in that time frame for the new owners. It’s not fun to find surprises and even less fun when you’ve spent your money on something else. You don’t know what kind of stewards the previous homeowners were. My friend was having a new kitchen and whole new flooring installed. Two weeks before the kitchen was to go in, they noticed water leaking in their dining room and kitchen from the ceiling. Found out the previous owners cheapened out on the roofing and had to have a new roof installed…8K (this all passed inspection when they purchased 3 years ago). The DAY BEFORE the new floor was to be installed, water came running down the wall from a window during a rainstorm. Found out there was NO FLASHING around the windows and the wooden jambs had rotted. That was less than 2k to fix if i remember correctly. They’ll be replacing all windows soon. WAIT...See Moreacm
