24'x24 floor tiles in a 5.5'x7.5' galley kitchen????
Comments (5)Thank you all for your feedbacK! (particularly since it was positive :)) I very much like the idea of using the paper cut-outs to get the feel and also to play with patterns, the running pattern would be a second choice. I hadn't quite been thinking in terms of anomalies, but that pretty much sums up my instinct. Because everything else contemplated is pretty minimalist, I was thinking anything less than 16"sq feet would be too busy, not to mention the grout factor - ugh! The last thing I want is the eye drawn to the floor! Thanks again!...See MoreHow long should a bathroom remodel take 5 ft x 7 ft
Comments (17)3-5 weeks lets consider navigating an apt. building, parking , working in tight confines with an at home client , lets consider how many humans can work in this small space at once and how much storage and staging space this ladys small apt has throughout the job while she works from home? is there stairs and or elevators? and now enter the fact that there is no scope of work spoken of. you certainly can paint and lay vinyl and replace trim in a week. a gut/reno permitted inspected with any tile, vanity, and certainly any plumb electric work drywall mud paint trim.... are you accounting for the quote /design off site time? the material selections/procurement time? the apt bldg association rules? handholding? have you yourself built 50 bathrooms and can speak to all the challenges or did your neighbors cousin tell you a week? only on TV...See MoreCan you show me your 7 x 5 kitchen island?
Comments (30)Here is one in progress shot of one that is 63” x 108”. Both adults are tall, and can reach the center. We tested that out first. :) That was important, because the range top is in the island. Even though the pop up downdraft will shield a lot of the spatters from the rest, some will always get through. The extra deep cabinets along the back have roll outs that hold a ton of cookware. They only wanted seating on one short end, for a couple of stools....See MoreHow do you raise a concrete slab floor
Comments (11)@Nev H1 Remember: large format tiles will automatically raise your floors by 3/4" - 1.5" All by themselves. You mention the 1" difference. Is that the CURRENT difference or is that the difference that will be LEFT OVER AFTER the tile is laid??? ^^^^This is a REALLY important question! Like STUPID important. As in, if you raise it NOW and then lay tile you could end up with the OPPOSITE problem...the tile could sit WAY TOO HIGH! Oops. A basic idea for TOTAL COSTS to prepare/level/flatten a concrete subfloor = $2 - $5/sf. Now ask yourself how much that is worth. The cost of INSTALLATION for the TILE = $8 - $15 per square foot (that's JUST LABOUR). If you've been quoted $4,000+ for the ENTIRE JOB...then someone is sniffing something! A LARGE FORMAT tile is SUPER SPECIAL to install. And SUPER SPECIAL = MORE EXPENSIVE to install. The range for install = $12 - $18/sf for labour (in my area = hyper expensive market). Your 'contractor' is too low...but that could be a local phenomena. Where are you?...See MoreMattman
