Roarah, thank you for your reply, we already have a media/family room downstairs, we just want to make this room functional, lol.

Marian, I agree with Roarah recommendations. If this is the dedicated theatre room, I would change the "mood" in the room with a dark grey paint, dimmable lighting and darker curtains at the window.

I would also recommend rotating the sectional, it doesn't seem to allow enough space to walk into the room. Also, remove the closet doors (and shelving) and utilizing that as added space in the room. The large screen TV can possible go in that "alcove". Do not discard the doors... when you transform the room back into a bedroom (later down the road) you will want to use those doors.

Ohhh, the ottomans are also a good idea - to prop your feet up on during the movie...

A TV that is not too big, since you are so close to it. It looks like we have the same sectional. We use it for our media room too. Ikea, right?

We combined it with the dark brown media table and an open cabinet above that, in which we have the dvd's. If I recollect well it was out of the Hemnes series. We had one wall free where we placed the higher Hemnes closet with drawers and glass windows.

A small table to put drinks and snacks on, proved necessary too. We bought one with a second piece of wood underneath, so one has extra space for things, like a magazine the kids are reading.

We placed some (fake) nice plants (Ikea...) in it as well and it got cosy right away. We decorated with the warm yellow of Lion Kings stuffed animals and some orange as well. A throw blanket with orange and yellow in it completed it. The kids loved it.

Have a Unit built into the wall that can be multi purpose for storage- TV, games, etc . If it is custom done it can be any size and depth you need.
