Who do you buy your bulbs from: Tulips/daffs/lilys/hyacinths.....
Comments (7)I have been ordering a large number of bulbs from VE every year. Lilies from this supplier are not always true to name, though, but that's all right with me, because I wanted a large collection of Lilies for cut-flowers. The bulbs are huge and the customer service is exceptional. Can't beat the price either. And I have not had any problem with virus with VE's bulbs ---so far....See MoreWhat voltage of bulbs do you have in your range hood?
Comments (11)Thanks for 'figuring out' what I meant. I have so many details swimming around in my head about this house remodel that sometimes I think I'm brain dead! :-) Of course I meant wattage, not voltage. I wonder if I should re-post the question. The 2 hoods I'm looking at have the following lighting. 2- 40 watt incandescent bulbs in the front (reviewers said the light was quite good, but I was skeptical because they aren't halogens). 2- 20 watt halogen bulbs in the front (someone also mentioned about this lighting being good) Our ceilings are only 8 feet high, so the hood will probably be 28-30" above the cooktop. captsmethwick.....do you like your Broan hood? Do you have the model # by any chance? I was just wondering how quiet it is on the lower settings. I don't mind if it's loud on the highest setting because I don't plan to use that for long periods of time. But one of our options is Broan, so I just wondered. Thank you both for your answers!...See MoreEdison style bulb equivalent to modern 75 watts? Do they exist?
Comments (3)The key figure is 'lumens'. An incandescent 75w bulb, under good circumstances, would emit about 1100 lumens of light. Today there are halogen, CFL, and a few LED options that emit light at that level. For a kids bedroom, definitely go with at least CFL and hopefully LED. Most kids seem to have no idea how to turn lights OFF, so they are often ON for several hours a day!...See MoreWhat kind of light bulbs do you have around your house?
Comments (37)The terms 'daylight' and 'soft light' etc are too vague. You need to be looking at the kelvin rating. Usually soft light is more yellow and is around 3000 kelvin, while daylight bulbs are more blue'ish and are around 5000-6500 kelvin. I personally have bought LED bulbs for the fixtures that actually get used a fair amount, because it's usually in those locations where the efficiency will actually pay off at some point. Where as in locations where the bulbs are hardly ever used, being more energy efficient isn't worth the additional up front cost of the bulbs themselves. I use 6500 kelvin bulbs in the bathrooms and kitchen where I really need to be able to see what I'm doing, and I use 2700k bulbs in the dining room, living room, and bedrooms where I want something that's easier on the eyes and more relaxing....See More- 6 years ago
