What a bathroom! What a neat tub and sink! Is this a vacation home or permanent? I'm not sure it matters but it would work better for a vacation home (psychologically anyway), but what about doing the tub/shower plumbing like an old clawfoot with shower added? Full surround shower curtain (or just two sides if you want to redo the tile nice and watertight I guess) with the showerhead piped openly from the lower plumbing and attached to the curtain rod? Wrong terms, I know, but maybe you know what I mean. LIke the one linked below (cheaper versions and different configurations are available--this was just a quick google.) I'd guess there used to be a thicker floor that was removed and nobody bothered to tell the toilet. If you're really being cheap, you could maybe get away with a lot of paint on the cabinets and curtains over the missing doors, but the cabinets would have to be sturdy enough to keep for that to work. Crisp white tile is inexpensive and you CAN put tile on a piece of plywood for the removable countertop. It'll be heavy enough you won't need to anchor it. Maybe you can DIY drywalling the ceiling. @Janymoyer!! I just couldn't let go that a small master bath in our size of home is bad for resale. We bought this house because it was literally the only one that had enough bedrooms for our large family. It had been on the market quite a while. We've taken care of some of the many main reasons why we believe it sat for so long. It doesn't even look like the same house anymore, but it's not like we'll be redoing the master bath again in the next 20 years, so don't want to make a huge mistake now that will hurt us if we decide to sell it before that. I'm not sure why you edited to add the comment now about just donating our money to charity. I've seen people spend a lot more on bathrooms then we will spend even if we do it all. I'm just trying to be wise with our $$$, and trying to think about it from all aspects, while still ending up happy with the finished product and the feeling that we made the right choice considering everything.

We still have half paneled walls in the living room, they were painted gray but kept the decorative brown trim the same color. The top half of the wall is popcorn along with the ceilings. No carpet thank God but we still have the original wall oven not in avocado green but brown. Needless to say we have our work cut out for us so I've been window shopping for furniture and decor so I don't feel overwhelmed. We're getting the popcorn removed professionally at the end of the month so that'll be one thing we can check off the list. This our third house and we tend to buy ugly houses (last one was a 90s HUD home with muave EVERYWHERE) but this is the first one that is damn near a total gut. Knocking down walls, completely reconfiguring the kitchen and master bath. Why couldn't we have bought a victorian with all original things still in place?

Do you like the almond coloured tub? A new tub does not have to be expensive at all. A simple alcove style tub can be purchased for under $500 easily. If the colour isn't working for you and is making other decisions difficult, then get rid of it when you are getting rid of everything else. But if you do need to keep it, then why not choose to compliment the colour rather than match it. Maybe a creamy white tile would work well with it, not stark white. And depending on the tile, maybe a warm taupey coloured grout to relate back to the tub. Here are a few ideas that might work - it depends on the actual colour of the tub. I think I would choose white for the other fixtures and I'd consider a wood vanity to help play with the almond tone of the tub. Here is an idea...for the wood tone and then I'd put a white top on the vanity and a white sink.
