Tired of incomplete backsplash, need help
Comments (25)First off, Andy, I LOVE your kitchen! Secondly, I love your fleur de lis, as well, and think it works really well. If this were my kitchen, I would choose a simple background tile in a rectangular shape and lay it brick patterned over the whole surface of the inset. You ahve enough diagonal-layed tiles in your backsplash already. Maybe add in a few different textures of the same shape and size for interest, like adding a few that are glass or crackle or polished instead of tumbled. If they are natural stone or hand-made tiles, they will have natural shading variations and your 'contrast' tiles could pick up on those shades. Then I would mount the fleur on top of it, like you suggested. I think you have a lot of wows in your space already. I would be looking for simple elegance in your niche. Comments (7)This is timely because I have similar cabinets. I've been looking for whites that aren't too bright. I just got an estimate from a cabinet painter; his proposal included 2 coats of oil-based primer and then 2 coats of either oil or water-based paint. Here's what I've found in other threads: BM Linen White: SW Alabaster: SW Casa Blanca: SW Dover White: Here is a link that might be useful: Instructions on painting cabinets...See MorePainting help needed, can't decide where to start/ stop colors
Comments (2)Looking at the shade of blue you've chosen, I would paint the stairway beige. (The blue might make it seem like a cave, and you certainly don't want use the brown, great color, but too dark for an entire stairway...) Is the ceiling in the kitchen freshly painted? I think the soffit would look okay painted to match the ceiling. If you want the seamless look, certainly paint it brown to match the walls. I tend to go with that opinion when I am asked for work. (I have my own small business.) Also, it's a bit easier! Looks like you have decent cabinets! Seems like a cute house!...See MoreWe are re-painting ... Need help with the right color.
Comments (10)Mystic Beige- a little too similar to your tile Hazelnut cream- hard to find a good picture of this online- does it have a gold undertone? Putnam Ivory- Very pretty- this one could work Brandy cream-looks a little pink on my monitor which wouldn't be good Bar Harbor Beige- this would make for a very beige bathroom Pensive- I like this color but it looks like it might have some pink in it, at least on my monitor Arizona Tan- also showing pink on my monitor Behr- Raffia Cream this could be pretty. another color for you to consider, although I'm not sure it would go with your glass tile, is devine paint brand in "almond". It's a really intersting blue, grey, green specially formulated to go with travertine and travertine looking tile. HTH If you have time can you post more pictures of your bathroom?
