We are re-painting ... Need help with the right color.

Ok so for those that have followed my post about hating the bathroom color. We are re-painting! He has agreed for me to pick a color - end of story. We need to get this done this weekend before the mirror is installed. I've had several suggestions on my previous post about what colors to choose. I want To get a few samples, but I'm torn between which I should narrow down to. I wanted more of a beige color versus something yellow, however it seems most posts are suggesting colors with a yellow tone. maybe I'm wrong in thinking the yellow would look bad?

Here are some of my BM choices

Mystic beige

Hazelnut cream

Putnam ivory

Brandy cream

Bar harbor beige

Pensive

Arizona tan

Behr - raffia cream

As you can see I'm not sure which color to choose!

Any help will be appreciated. I've posted images to my other post - bathroom color ... I hate it.

Mystic Beige- a little too similar to your tile
Hazelnut cream- hard to find a good picture of this online- does it have a gold undertone?
Putnam Ivory- Very pretty- this one could work
Brandy cream-looks a little pink on my monitor which wouldn't be good
Bar Harbor Beige- this would make for a very beige bathroom
Pensive- I like this color but it looks like it might have some pink in it, at least on my monitor
Arizona Tan- also showing pink on my monitor
Behr- Raffia Cream this could be pretty.

another color for you to consider, although I'm not sure it would go with your glass tile, is devine paint brand in "almond". It's a really intersting blue, grey, green specially formulated to go with travertine and travertine looking tile.

Thank you! I will carefully look these over and hope to make a decision before the weekend. I forgot to mention - this may or may not change you color suggestions, but there will be an additional 3 light over the vanity that will give more lighting but can be turned off separetly.

I had to cut back a lot when I had my house painted. My climbing roses were on the front, which is stone, but they spread over the side which needed to be painted. So I simply cut those branches that were over there. On the side I had to severely prune my azaleas. But they grew back and looked better. It's hard but you may be surprised. Last year, my huge Teasing Georgia was on an umbrella trellis. We had a bad storm and the wind broke the trellis (I think it was rusting already) and the rose and trellis was completely horizontal. We had to cut the rose off the trellis. Which meant that we took off most of the rose. What happened is that the sun then was able to hit the base of the rose and it put out many new canes. Of course, being the procrastinator that I am, I did not get the new pillar until a few months went by. To get the rose on it, we had to cut off all but 3 of the new canes (which by this time were 5 feet tall). So we took these three canes and wrapped them around the pillar. It looked so bare, especially when it snowed: But as you can see, it responded with TONS of new growth and now you can't even see the pillar! (TG is on the left, you can just see the tip of the pillar) I would take this opportunity to cut back the roses and leave two or three newer canes. Then after the painting is over, if the season is right, fertilize the heck out of the plant and start fresh. I plan on doing that to my two front climbers after they finish blooming.

Thank You so much.....it looks like I might get my bath done some time this year. It was demo'd in July...so many problems and changes have had to be made. I am so very grateful for this forum. I would never have known about the caulk issue without it.....and would have let them snow me for sure. I am still a little concerned about how the wall will look with the big grout hidden by the new extra thick wall. There is no grout line visable but there is a crack. Will this look ok with a bead of the sand colored caulk put into the crack? .....or will it need something else. I plan to paint the walls a sand color with a faux texture effect to add an aging look. How often will this little bead of caulk have to be redone?

I'm glad that Athomewith3 posted her photo because I was going to suggest looking for it!!! I love your granite - it looks like mine! Is it baltic brown? It will go nicely with your cabs and with a painted island. Your island is large - I think it would look lovely in the off white with a bit of glaze and it would look good in a distressed black. You can dress up the outsides of it with molding to give it a paneled look, or with the beadboard as in the above photo. There was another photo not long ago where someone dramatically changed their island with molding. I'm attaching a photo of our black painted island with the same granite as yours. It'll give you an idea of the look. There's a shot from the back and from the front.

Spring: The reason your photos won't work in SW is because the resolution is way too small. With the first picture of the whole house, in order to mask the areas, you need more house & less surroundings in the photo, more like the second photo has. If the resolution were bigger, I could have cropped it down some but it's just too small. So I toyed with colors trying to match the stone. Thats a quartzite type stone and I can see you are trying to match the blue grays in it. I found more pictures of your bathroom in your previous post; I hadn't seen them before there in the middle of the thread! It looks like you have an olive green in the backsplash; you might consider a very soft olive green paint color.

next question...you said you are painting the door white and it looks your tub is white, in which case a cream color might not work well on the walls. You'll need to go with a color so that the cream and the white aren't fighting each other. I hope that helps.

Amdrea no greens at all. I think images are hard to go by the tile seem to be going off the wrong shades. I went with a sample of raffia cream, but not sure this is the right color either.

Yeah, I think you are goign to have a hard time getting cream to work since you are going to have so much white in your bathroom. Perhaps a color would be better in your bathroom. Sorry this is so frustrating. I've been exactly where you are and ended up painating my bathroom a light beige. Not a color I love but it is a color that works well enough.

You may want to check out the new thread linked below. They have a similar toastie looking color with travertine and it may work for you as well.

We decided against the creams. Thought the warmer beige looked better in our lighting. I think those who mentioned it was the shade were right. The pink undertone was just not right. I will be posting pictures, hopefully, of the final bath over the weekend.
