The other question is how you want to sell it, and as Linda says, how fast. For illustrative purposes, if you drive it over to your local Value Village it would be gone very quickly and you would get zero for it. If you post it on craigslist, the lower the price, the faster it will go. Generally the most you will get on craigslist is about half what someone expects to pay in a store. If you take it to a consignment or antique dealer, it may sell slowly but for a relatively high price, although you will only get half of that. The reason for that is that someone else does the selling work for you and stores it until it sells. If you've ever sold (or bought) anything on craigslist you'll appreciate the service a store provides, from showing the piece at the buyer's convenience to processing a payment. Not to mention loading into someone's car. Ebay prices may be more like a store, but you have to deal with shipping... and with the luck factor - could go very low if you have no reserve! You also have to consider whether you want to sell as a set or individual pieces. I really like the tall cabinet, the dresser maybe not so much, and double beds are definitely a niche market these days. OK, so what would I pay for it?? $400 for the cabinet, $250 for the dresser, $200 for the smoking stand, and $125 for the bed. Note: this is not an appraisal, but a hypothetical buyer, so I may even be lowballing, esp on the cabinet. You should probably ask more to start with, and gauge the response. A dealer who sells for you on consignment might be the only person as motivated as you to get the highest price possible. Hi Steve, I do love the TV (great sound, picture as nice as my analogue TV downstairs with only regular cable ... both could use digital cable for a clearer picture, wonderful remote, very pretty TV but so SHINY the black that I can see my reflection... wish my TV stand was wider and taller) but I do not like the pedestal look on my Night Stand (2.5" on each side hangs and to me is distracting in the pretty bedroom) and I am seriously thinking of taking it back (but upset that the sneaky salesman has on the slip that LCD's are not returnable when he made me sign the screen without reading anything and then the person came to bring it to my car and I was very sick and when I asked to see the slip before signing, he said it was everything we discussed) and buying the 26" white Sharp LCD that swivels that was only $30 less for so much less screen with only the added swivel feature... but is in white and will not overpower the bedroom I feel. I just would have to order it from Target.com and have to pay about $26 in shipping to me and then back (UPS $26 around the sales guy said who I spoke to online at Target.com today) if I do not like the off-white color that has some gray in it. It has wonderful reviews but the Toshiba had better reviews and the reviewers are right about the sound quality on the Toshiba... it is very nice and I love the TV but it is TOO black for my bedroom and too big to me. I was sick all day and now not sure what to do. It is a beautiful TV but really stands out in my white room and I wish I could just put it in the family room an buy a white TV for my bedroom that is smaller despite the smaller picture. But my TV in my family room is only about 7 years old (Black Hitachi.. 27" that cost me $199 and looks nice to me.. heavy but not as heavy as my 14.5 year old 25" Samsung TV was). Maybe I can negotiate a deal on the extended and the 26"... I sure wish PC Richards would have the Sharp TV in white. Maybe I can ask if the can order it that way for me?

well, here you already know she does like to sit at a table, given she chose dining table and not her bed while in school. And she did voice her desire to have a dedicated space to work. Luckily the room is big enough to accommodate it. Her current desk is too small for studies for sure..it's a nice space to write a letter maybe, a postcard, a check.. small things. Not enough for spreading out, doing hours worth of work. We have a similar desk..I mean with drawers on the side..and bigger at that and not angled..and even I found it too restricting for real work. As for my DD she banished it and bought something from IKEA (that doesn't fit her room in terms of style and makes me sad lol), so she can work there. she's past college..she was applying to graduate schools. one doesn't need text books for that at all-still hours of work. and if you ask me she could do so in her brother's room-he has a huge desk and is currently away in college. But she wanted to be in her own room.) Your daughter will sit at her bed from time to time, almost everybody does, to a different degree. Yet it's still college, and it's a lot of work. Maybe she needs mostly surface, minimum drawers situations..just some drawers. Or maybe some organizers like a very short hutch. Or maybe none at all like this glass desk you show, or Parsons style mentioned above. Go together to a store (IKEA or others) so she can try several desks..Of course you want to give her pretty cohesive space. And possibilities. And you do base this not only on your-very natural-desires, but on what she's been saying quite a long time too, I see here quite a good fit between what you'd want and what she thinks she needs.

I just finished setting up the 3-drawer Tarva chest today. Haven't decided how to paint it yet. Imo, it's a solid piece. Nothing's budging and it's heavy. The untreated pine makes it easy to customize as well. I've had plenty of Ikea pieces over the years and have always been pleased with the quality for the price. Their drawer hardware is awesome for the price. Didn't have a look at the Tyssedal in store so can't comment on that line. One thing I adore about Ikea is their easy returns.
