Corian Range hood question, part II

palimpsest

I had asked earlier about the feasibility of a range hood constructed entirely out of Corian on the surface. It would be very "flat" because I would be using a remote fan and this would be only the capture area with filters. It would extend out on the sides to form a shelf/sill for clerestory windows. Both versions have a shape that relates to an architectural feature of the house.

The fabricator gave the idea a "yes" in terms of being able to make it.

Since it needs a means of support, and I will be designing it, I was thinking of something like this that could be buried in the backsplash and the hood would slot on to the projecting arms, and the shallower portion would be held by a ledger or cleat.

This appears as if it would make sense to me...comments?
