Help! Floor stains to match Medallion Cherry Pecan cabinets
Comments (3)Does your kitchen get a lot of light? I think either a dark or light floor would look good with those cabinets. Bear in mind though the dark granite will suck a lot of light out of your kitchen, especially if you get a dark floor lol! How cool! I got the same cabinets, they'll be delivered feb 22nd. I had the same concerns with my flooring. I have a "natural" oak floor with kind of redish/gold tints. I posted pics on here and everyone said the cabinet would go just fine with my floor. I had a dark granite in my previous home with light cabinets & floor. The dark granite really darkened things up quite a bit! My old kitchen could handle it, not my new kitchen though (doesn't get as much light)....See MoreShould oak floor stain match my stained woodwork? (Pics included)
Comments (13)Now you got me started. I was going to comment that the molding and the floors look wonderful and should stay the colors they are. In many older houses with stained ww, the floor is lighter, giving some interest to the room. Then you got me started on base shoe, my FAVORITE topic. IMHO, you must put the base shoe up. It's the finishing touch on fine woodwork. I've always wondered why it is called base shoe and finally determined that it's like putting on your best clothing and then going barefoot. It just looks unfinished. My former house had all natural molding, what I wouldn't give to have it now. I love my house, but the white moldings can go...and the upkeep. My guess is if you're using the original baseshoe and it's held up all these years, it'll will hold up for many more. New stuff, unless you buy oak, not so much. Have fun. The house is beautiful....See MoreWhich wood stain finish best matches Tucson Buckskin Wood-like Tile?
Comments (0)We decided to with the wood-like tile throughout our new construction home. The stairs leading to the bonus room on the second floor is wood. We are trying to pick the best finish for the wood to match the wood-like tile that's throughout the house. The super is going to have three stains for us to choose from when we go to our walk-through, but I wanted to go to that meeting a little prepared by soliciting some opinions on here in case anyone has had to deal with this. I have attached a picture of the wood-like tile. Thanks in advance!...See MoreBathroom Cabinet Dilemma. Paint or Stain Match?
Comments (15)Thank you all for your comments and opinions. I realize I have not been organized or given enough info in this post. I will try to remedy that now. We have an almost blank canvas for this project. The plumbing is in and we are drywalling right now. We plan to paint the walls and the cabinet before we install them. So, I am cutting things down to the wire. First, layout. Second, a photo of the actual tub we have, except the drain and overflow are oil-rubbed bronze. Third, the fixture we have for the tub. Fourth, the vanity (it has a white quarts top IRL). Fifth, tile. Sixth, the same tile installed (taken off of the internet). The cabinet that we have is unfinished oak and is 18W x 24D x 84T. It's a tall cabinet. As for grout, we are staying away from white because it gets too dirty. Most of my friends who chose white said they regret it. The choice of brown is mostly so that it warms up the bright white of the tile. The last photo is of a color scheme I am considering. The brown is the closest to the vanity I could find of the Benjamin Moore colors. I am considering the Shaker beige for the walls. The white would be for the trim. I will have to do more refining of the colors, but this is where my head is right now. Would a green like the one in the last photo work for the large cabinet, or would it be too overpowering? Phew! I hope all of that makes sense!...See More- 6 years ago
