pottery barn dupioni silk panels...
Comments (10)I purchased the Pottery Barn Silk Duponi Tie Top Drapes in ivory. Initially I purchased 4 panels for my living room bay window and 4 panels for my dining room window. I believe both windows are around 100" wide. I love them so much I purchased 4 more panels for my kitchen eating nook window as well. (I'm lucky that my significant other has not voiced any objections to the curtains.) I absolutely love the curtains and I feel they made the rooms look 10x better than before. The 4 panels for each window look perfect (to me): full and beautiful. The silk duponi looks expensive and the texture is lovely. The panels definitely filter/dim the light but not a lot. Previously I had black velvet curtains on my living room window and nothing on my dining room window (open to the living room - opposite sides of the house) and the living room is significantly brighter than before. In fact, I pretty much only open the curtains if company is coming over because they let in enough light closed. I would imagine the clay color would block the light a little more. The curtains do have a white lining behind the silk. I used the large Pottery Barn Standard Drape Rod and it has a single support in the middle. I purchased the extra-large size for my family room sliding glass door with 2 fixed windows beside it (I think around 110"?) but I have not yet installed the rod or curtains, so I'm not certain how many supports. I think just the 2 outside and the single in the middle, but I'm not positive. I didn't do a great deal of research before purchasing the drapes so I'm not certain if you could find something equally as beautiful elsewhere. But I really do love these from Pottery Barn. I feel like the quality and styling is fantastic and I would definitely do it all over again....See MorePottery Barn Outlet - Have You Been?
Comments (28)FWIW, fall may be better time to go than now. It was never a problem before the economy took a dive but they changed the stores format a couple of years ago, cutting back on at least half of the inventory. They only seem to stock up in fall and spring. It seems they use summer and winter to get rid of holiday & seasonal items and just let the normal inventory wain while pushing the other stuff. It doesn't get restocked much at all and when it's gone, it's gone. I took the hike to our local store last week to look for dining chairs. It's an hour north of here and pretty much all the store had going on was the summer clearance and a large stock of bigger sized furniture pieces. The bedding area was almost completely empty, the sheets has all sizes in only white, the colors are almost gone. Shelves for quilts and duvets, lamps and drapes are also pretty much cleared out. Bathroom accessories, only 1 shelf as opposed to several rows. They also used to have several rows of chairs & bar stools, now they're just lined up against the back wall. This is the second year this has happened, so maybe it's the new normal with the economy. It was sure a trip wasted for me. :c( Just thought I'd give you all a heads up...you may want to call and see how their inventory is before you decide on a date to go....See MoreNew question: Anyone have PB Peyton linen/cotton drapes?
Comments (28)OK, so this is kind of embarrassing, after all my debating about what color Peytons to go with.... We were in Boston last weekend and went to a Pottery Barn and bought one panel in the Peyton Chestnut and one panel in the Clay silk dupioni. When we brought them back to Florida and hung them on a pole side by side in our family room/sunroom, the Peyton just seemed too heavy for the room with a texture too similar to our cream-colored sectional (see photos above). Also, we want to be able to push the panels as far out of the way during the day and the silk really seem much lighter and fold up much smaller. So after all this, it looks like we will by going with the bronzey-looking clay silk dupionis after all! Now our big dilemma is whether to go with the 84 inch length panels, which means with the pole and rings they will aang 5 inches above the 82-inch windows (including trim), or spring for the 96-inch ones and go to the expense of hemming them, just to get a few inches more in height. Oh decisions, decisions!!! (yes, I am looking for advice, f anyone wants to look at my photos above.) Thanks. Mollie, can't wait to see how your drapes look -- please post pictures!...See MorePottery Barn no longer has Customer Comments?
Comments (86)I bought the cute PB Reindeer mugs last year for Christmas. We ended up not using them until this year. They were tucked away in my kitchen cabinet in their box until we brought them out this Christmas. I rinsed them out and used Two, one for hot chocolate and one for tea. The person with the tea suddenly had the hot liquid coming out at the base. At first she thought she had spilled it and grabbed a cloth. While this was happening the other person was pouring the hot water into the Chocolate mix in his cup, there was a cracking popping sound and the hot chocolatey liquid spewed out from a very large crack running vertically down the side. In the meantime the hot tea cup was continuously seeping from around the base of the cup but we couldn't see a crack anywhere. After cleaning up the mess and making sure no one suffered any burns, we cleaned out the cups and checked them out. One had an obvious crack that had occurred, while the other one used for tea had no discernibly visible crack. BUT we discovered that when you ran a wet finger around the bottom of the sides of the inside base of the cup , you could feel a hairline crack running almost completely around the inside base circumference. These cups come in a package of 4 and are expensive considering 2 out of 4 cracked when used for hot drinks. We are afraid to use the other two cups for fear of getting burnt. l wanted to read reviews of these cups but cant find ANY reviews on any of their products. This leads me to thinking they purposely don't have anywhere to post them. From a CS perspective this is a very poor optic, doesn't inspire brand loyalty or any desire to continue to purchase their products. Trust and belief in the brand providing quality products is seriously compromised. I also purchased a woven duvet cover that I have to needle in a couple of loose ends that were left sticking out the ”GoodSide” of the cover. Shoddy finishing work with a no care attitude....See Morenwgal
