Do you guys feel guilty when you plant to many seeds....
Comments (14)I feel guilty, because it always goes the same way. I have a bunch of plants, they end up squished together under the lights, their branches get all tangled together and rip off, and the plants don't get an optimal amount of light. Later in the season, I get overwhelmed about watering all those plants, and they don't produce as well as they would have if I watered. Then I tell myself "why did you do this again?? You would be much happier if you had a few healthy plants!". I know that too many germinating is the beginning of a vicious cycle, so yes, I feel guilty in advance when too many sprout!...See MoreConcise labeling: You say 'Heuchera,' I say 'H. americana'
Comments (3)This business of plant names has become ridiculous in many ways. Plant taxonomy is my field and it pains me greatly to see how names are disregarded. If you are labelling for your own use, I would suggest that you use any abbreviation which will convey meaning to you 5 years from now. As for the public; a cricket possibly knows or cares more about correct names than the average gardener. The public seems to believe that Latin botanical nomenclature is too complex for the average person to learn...how ridiculous!!! In today's world, when almost all plants of horticultural significance are the result of hybridisation, cultivar names have become quite important and should be a part of the full and correct name. Needless to say, usually there is no authority to cite...See MoreDo you feel like you are Crazy?
Comments (2)wakemeupsoon, Oh I know how you are feeling. I'm just so sorry you have are feeling it so young. I am 52 and I started feeling the exact same way as you about a year ago. Then this past june, I started with panic attacks also. I cry over everything and I also feel like my life is over. My periods are irregular, but still come once every month (just not at the same time and very light) The doctor gave me valium also for just a couple of weeks and it worked ok at first. Now when I get up in the morning, I have to start out very calmly and slowly or I find myself starting to panic. I don't know how long this will last either. I think it's one of those life transitions that we have to learn how to live with. I take magnesium suppliments, B vitamins, a multivitamin and use progesterone cream. This doesn't take the symptoms away entirely, it makes them so I can function from day to day. Thank God, I have an understanding supportive wonderful husband who tries to make everything as easy for me as possible. I know this won't help you much, but at least you know you aren't alone. My thoughts are with you....See MoreCabs shimmed to 37" counter height when the drawings say 36"h?
Comments (35)As a few people have noted, you are probably focused primarily on the front of the cabinet shims, while the highest spot is likely along a wall. We recently did a budget, temporary reno with very wonky floors. Our highest spot was in a back corner, unfortunately quite near the dishwasher, so we had to make sure we had enough clearance for that. While the back of the cabinet was right at 34.5 inches from the ground (to accommodate our counter choice of 1.5 inches), the front needed to be shimmed to a final countertop height of over 36.5 inches. In the lowest spot of the kitchen, the counter top is about 37.25 inches, but level with the high spot. Do I wish it were a bit lower? Yes, of course. But this was a $10k all in reno and fixing sagging floors that are otherwise fine was not in scope....See Moresephia_wa
