Doc says its osteoarthritis...
Comments (11)My stomach won't tolerate anti-inflammatories either, but there is an Ibuprofen creme that is absorbed through the skin and it works VERY well. Before I had a knee replacement it was the only thing I could use to lesson the swelling. BioEntopic 15% Ibuprofen Creme. Nobody wants to hear this but for a high percentage of the people with arthritis symptoms simply eliminating foods of the nightshade family works like a miracle. My knee was like the canary in the coal mine to tell me what my system was sensitive too. If I ate tomatoes or peppers, and to a lesser degree, potatoes (processed potatoes were worse, like potato chips) about three or four days latter my knee would swell so much that I couldn't walk. A registered nurse clued me in on the nightshade thing. Only a few M.D.s will tell you. Once on vacation we were served Thia food in someone's home (hot peppers!) and I came home in a wheel chair. At least we got to go to the front of a long line at the air port, LOL! After knee replacement if I indulge in foods of nightshade family the affect is that my joints are very achy and stiff. From the internet: "In a study published in the Journal of the International Academy of Preventive medicine, of the 5000 arthritis sufferers who eliminated Nightshade, seventy percent reported relief from aches, pains, and disfigurement." And yes, keep moving. Love of gardening will help you do that :-) And remember that problems, including health problems, come and go. "And it came to pass." Be happy gardening! Comments (67)I'm finally able to check in. First of all thanks to all for your concern! Your posts & phone calls mean so much to me. We lost power at 10:40 pm Friday, just as the winds were really starting to pick up. We went to bed and I woke up at 2:20 am to incredibly loud winds and lots of loud noises. I walked around the house several times sure there would be damage but thankfully there was none. Just as I finally fell back to sleep, around 3:20 am, the power came back on and woke me up. It was on for maybe 20 seconds then off again. We got a lot of rain at the house but actually nothing really major. I think most of the rain was to the east of us. Our front yard has a large oak (very large) and an large pine, both of which got a nice pruning by Ike. There were branches and limbs and leaves everywhere. We did about 75% of the clean up but have more to do. We now have three large piles of tree debris at the curb. Our power is still out and there's no telling when we'll get it back. I came to the office just to get out of the house. Our temps are dipping to high 60s thanks to a cold front from Canada (thanks Canada!!), so I'm hoping tonight will be more bearable sans A/C if we still don't have power, which I will be shocked if we do. Right now it's 62 hours without electricity and counting. Gas stations which are open are few and far between with long lines. I have enough gas to get me to work & back for the rest of the week and then some so I will be able to ride it out. I'm going to try to get ice on the way home but not sure if I'll be able to or not. I am extremely thankful that we made it through Ike with no damage. Some people have lost everything, many have had flooding and tree damage and more. We are very very lucky. This was a very damaging storm and very scary....See MoreSlowing Down?
Comments (7)Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie here, but I love to crochet and try to do some year round, mostly every day. Lately I'm working on purses, but because of DH's work we are going to be moving soon. So, today I had the fun task of trying to organize and pack my yarns and unfinished projects. I wish I could find a better storage method, for some reason I had several ends of threads all knotted together in the middle of a basket (it made a very colorful knotted ball), and if I had more time I would probably have tried to unravel it all, but in my rush to pack I was forced to take scizzors to it :o(. Any one have any yarn/project storage methods - lol. I was working on doilies (remember those? - may be someday they'll come back in fashion) but for some reason a few of them are still unfinished (just the last few rows to do on each). I've finished a few purses I could post in the gallery if I get time tomorrow (posted one already), and I am working on a cotton bedcover for my DD's bed (I've calculated that the rate that's going, it will be about 2+ years to finish) - it's a pattern I found @ crochet pattern central called the Stafford Bedspread. BTW I admire any one that can make socks or other garments, I used to try and make simple slippers but I don't have a steady tension in my work and inevitably first slipper's bigger than the second. Well, I will keep on checking in here, I am inspired by all your ideas and advice, and hope to help others as well if I can. Liz...See MoreAnd today's hitlist winners are.....drumroll here....
Comments (12)ok, I got out there, started shovelling (have no idea what I'm doing), neighbor came over, invited me for wine...............what can I say.............the shovelling went for a poop! Fortunately, she has a son who was willing to take on the job............and wouldn't take any money! I said, "you have to take money, how can I hire you again, if you think you won't get paid? Anyway, have had way too much wine, need to go to bed........talk to you all tomorrow! Nitey nite! Laurel...See MoreUser
