Finished Kitchen Cream & Blue Cabinets '80s ranch refresh pics
Comments (54)kimmieb - What an extremely thoughtful, resourceful and inspiring "refresh" - I am sure you will like it more than you would the 100K kitchen (I do :) because you did it yourself, worked with what you had and made it your own. Not to mention that you used an incredibly fabulous and relaxing color in the kitchen. I say... gray-blue, blue-gray, gray-blue, a little green-gray and maybe something slightly purple-blue-gray - that is where my brain lives these days. My old place was more yellow/beige and fresh greens/blue-greens. I had to fight myself to not make our current place blue-gray inside and out but needed other colors - if only to complement/accent more blue-gray :) It is amazing how color preferences can shift. Believe it or not my horizon's actually expended after many hours on the kitchen and home decorating forum. I even painted a bathroom tomato red! I hope your kitchen inspires more beautiful colorful painted kitchens....See Moreexterior 80's ranch
Comments (10)I feel when you have an undistinguished boring 80's ranch the one modern element that is easy to help transform it is Craftsman elements. I wanted to create a more timeless yet updated home. That is why I have always loved Craftsman style homes. I like your idea of doing the door in a wood grain. If I had a limitless budget I think it would be wood. From far enough away a good rich brown just may achieve that look without having to do the faux wood grain. Thank you for the idea....See MoreNeed color advice on painting fascia and soffits 80's ranch
Comments (3)I really think your house looks great, as is. Maybe you could go a bit darker on your trim, along the lines of your roof color - if you want to change the trim. I can’t see your door, but I could imagine something like this mahogany door looking great on your house. Nice lights shown here flanking this door, as well. But other than that I just think lighting around house and on grounds would make your place even more fabulous. But that’s about it. adding: if you really wanted to take it in a super modern direction, it would be landscaping related. Going in a more modern style with your landscaping. But I think your landscaping looks good and is tastefully classic. So you can go either way with that....See MoreHelp mixing brick and stone or siding on 80's ranch
Comments (5)Thank you all. The entrance to the front door is a walkway that runs along the front of the house from the driveway. We are in the country so a front yard walkway is not necessary. We also have a septic tank out front. The bird bath marks our lid location. That is part of the reason for us doing some much needed landscaping as it slopes towards the driveway because of the tank the need for a retaining wall etc. I will drop my thought of doing an accent façade and instead concentrate on front door colour????, connecting the side deck to the front walkway-Thank you Patricia-My DH had the same thought and of course better landscaping. There are too many different heights from front walkway to side deck to driveway and it is not necessary so that definitely will be addressed. We are seniors so we are trying to go low maintenance in the gardens as they are too much upkeep right now. DH was thinking of a stone patio in the front over the septic tank which would create some much needed interest in the front yard and open it up to the driveway which is really the main entrance. I will look for some inspiration pictures of that. Again thank you all for getting me onto a straighter path to what this house needs and especially for the need to EMBRACE THE BRICK....LOL!!!!...See Moregtcircus
