Munkos... Thank you for your story! I have never heard of another boxer doing that. Its ALWAYS the best to here about the same breed because they do act alike in alot of ways!! I have an adult boxer and this pup. One thing I have not really done is let him play outside (because its cold, and) somebody else told me that one he goes outside to go potty ONLY let him go potty, NO PLAYING!! So, I only have let him play inside or on walks. But, yes everytime when we ask him to go outside, we always say "Do you have to go potty?" that's what we say. It doesn't seem to fase him but I know in the back of his mind it has to be. Its just crazy though, I never remember having these issues with my adult boxer. I got her when she was 5 weeks also. Maybe its my mind blocking it out!!! lol :-) No, she's my whole life! SG... Your right! Gosh you are always right!! I have never thought of it like its mine and my husbands fault but it is!! Another thing we have not done, is kept him on a leash at all times outside his kennel. Doesn't your pup get tangled and upset with the leash then? Thank you for asking your vet about my situation. I'm not that close to my vet to do that. So his age is perfect for training?? That makes me soo happy!! And last but not least... when you crate your puppy (in the beginning) like when you leave, does he/she cry?? I work right next to my house and I can hear him over there crying and howling his head off. We did put a sheet over his crate and put treats hid in there but it didn't seem to help. At nighttime he got totally better with sleeping!! I took all the suggestions I got here and used them all and they worked! We put him in the crate with not alot of attention right before, put his sheet over his crate and he knows its time for bed. If he wines in the middle of the night (and we know its just to play) we slightly tap on his crate and say "shhhhhh". Very lightly. It puts him RIGHT to sleep!! But in the middle of the day when I leave for work, how do I make him comfortable enough to stop crying?? Thanks again everyone for your imput. Please keep the stories coming!! Thanks, Elycia

I teach dogs to ring the bell when they have to go out. I know that sounds hard but it is very simple. Hang a large bell from the nob of the door you want him to use (I bought a large sleigh bell at the craft store) and hang it low enough that he can reach it with his nose. I also use operant conditioning to train, all positive with click and reward. ok, this is what you will do; have a treat ready, call him to the door, ring the bell and then immediatly open the door tell him "good boy" and give him the treat yes, even though your the one that rang the bell. Do this often. Your teaching him that ringing the bell means the door opens. It took about 3 minutes working with Gus to learn to ring the bell when he was 3 months old. I have a bell inside and outside that Gus uses. I hope that helped you, I know it sounds hard, but it's really not. Depends from dog to dog how long it will take for them to learn this. I am no expert, but I have dealt with this before. This is my very humble opinion:) I think you are having an issue of jealousy. Did this start after the puppy became the center of attention? I know it sounds crazy, but I have had two friends and myself deal with this years ago. They are trying to get your, and your daughter's attention. It may not even be the younger dog that is initiating the jealousy. Do you leave them during the day? Are they alone maybe? One of my friends had a dog that started doing this and other horrible acts when he married. This dog had been his owners (alone) for many years, with no evil wife around:) The dog would tear up anything that was left down that smelled like the new wife. Kinda funny if you think about it, but not if you are experiencing it. This dog died of old age, but was never trained to stop the behavior. It was actually very sad.

Well I can tell you from experience the cats are probably mad about the puppy. But I'm not sure how to fix it! My experience was I brought home a new baby! A real newborn baby. And my cat of 12 years threw a fit. He too started peeing everywhere that I cared about. He would do it in my favorite seat, on top of my pillow, and even once on me and baby as I was feeding her! I would call a pet trainer. The ones at PetSmart comes to mind. Im not real sure how your gonna have to deal with it. For sure make sure the cats feel loved. I would spend extra time with them. Im not sure if you should go about punishing them when you catch them doing it, or reward for using the litter box. I think thats where the trainer could help you best. Goodluck! Keep us updated!
