I would paint the fireplace white. I would probably paint the walls white or cream, but since you like gray, a soft silver gray. Move the TV off the fireplace if possible. Add art which you like and especially find a couple of art pieces with the red.

If you're wanting to make this change with paint only, a light brown -- a tan (without any pink or yellow hue) -- could do that.

You could add your favorite colors to the room via art and throw pillows and window treatments. Since the two large corner windows are so close to the fireplace, I'd suggest vertical blinds stopping at the bottom of the windows.

Other options could include:

If you have a suitable wall, you might consider painting it your favorite bold color as an accent wall.

You might consider adding wainscoting and wallpaper on an accent wall.

Since you like the charcoal gray fireplace (as I do, too), you might consider using gray reclaimed wood for one wall and adding some bright art to that wall.

Trying to tie charcoal, brown, burnt orange together ... would brighten brown.
