Help! I need help decorating my living room
Comments (44)Sounds like you and hubby aren’t on the same page. Buying a table, without ability to return is red flag to me. He bought that rug too without your involvement. The rug is wrong size and style. No photo of the table. But better sit down and talk about this and reach some compromises otherwise, these situations can fester and get ugly over time....See MoreNeed help decorating dark living room sectional

Comments (12)Some info that might help: curtains which are as dark colored as yours should be lined. Sheer curtains are best in white. Yes, hang your curtains at the same height. If the only lighting in your room is the overhead we see in the photo you need to add lamps, either on a table or a floor lamp.Your room and you too will look a lot better when your light comes from multiple sources. Overhead lighting only is always unattractive. Educate yourself by looking at magazines, books or decorating info right here on Houzz. There may be wonderful florals or plaids that will look good in your room rather than print on your ottoman which adds no color to your room. As for art, if you like it, it will "go" . The art in your home should reflect your personal taste and no one elses. Again look at art and see what you like... at local galleries, shops and museums ...Look around...it's a nice way to spend an afternoon!...See MoreNeed help decorating living room with a front door in the middle !
Comments (6)The front room appears to be more of an entry room/foyer. You could consider using the designated ’bedroom’ as a combination bedroom/living room/sitting room - and, as suggested by @heathermalia, you could alternatively put a tv in the bedroom, if you are planning to have a tv. And as one idea for extra ‘living room’ seating, you could keep a stack of stackable chairs in a corner of the bedroom, with a throw over it. And I would instead set the front room space up with a round entry table, that could also double as a dining table (you could keep a couple of folding chairs on hand for when you’d like to use the table for dining). And I’d also include a bench in the space, for general entry room seating/maybe to rest bags/take off shoes, etc. And where the tv console is - up against that wall - I’d put a console table or sideboard/credenza with some art over it. Along these lines: Bench on this wall: And here are various ideas for creating a bedroom/living room setup: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/rooms/bedroom/gallery/when-your-bedroom-is-also-your-living-room-pubfa3208a7...See Morebeckysharp Reinstate SW Unconditionally
