I'm near Boston and near the ocean, it's a nightmare here. Power outages have already begun. Total white out and nine more hours of snow and high winds. Georgy'smom, the evacuation is already enacted for the people closest to the ocean. We are a half mile away and the winds will be around 70 mph, we expect a foot to a foot and a half. We've been through other bad blizzards but this time is the coldest spell since the 1800s. It's worrisome.

They said the closer to the ocean you are, the worse it will be. I hope you keep your power or at the very least, have a generator. The winds are the scariest. We really lucked out. I hope you will be safe....I'm worried for you. It seems to have stopped snowing here. Just as I typed that, I looked out and it is snowing again, but just a small bit. We really dodged a bullet. I hear the wind howling, but nowhere near blizzard proportions.

Yes, Massachusetts is really getting hit hard. The harbor is frozen over in Oak Bluffs on the Vineyard, ferry service to and from Vineyard/Nantucket is stopped. I have friends who were to take the ferry to Wood's Hole, the bus to Logan and fly to Charlotte where they had left their car with friend's mother. Then on Sun, they were to drive to their winter home in FL. They left early in hopes of getting out when they could - nope - stuck at the hotel at Logan as all flights today are cancelled. They MAY get to Charlotte tomorrow, but of course, it's bitter cold there, too. Not all that warm in FL (mid 50's where they are), but it will beat MA. Of course, I doubt they have much heat in their house, so maybe not!

Please everyone, be careful and smart. DH isn't worried, but I am. Please check in when you can. You know how we worry.

Here in Northeast Ohio, I saw where the wind chill could be -21 tomorrow. Right now the wind is blowing and it's spitting snow. I wonder what my gas bill is going to be like this month? I have a new furnace and it sure heats the house (sometimes too much for someone who is used to a cold house), and it's been running a lot.

For those without power or with the possibility of now power, I will be thinking of you.

Odd weather indeed! Pictures of Oak Bluffs frozen over, but in Edgartown, there is a storm tide and Dock Street and the yacht club are flooded and the water is part way up the first block of Main Street. Only a few miles apart - go figure...

I saw shots of Niagra Falls frozen on the weather channel...........This morning I saw icicles on our garage roof........First time in 21 years that I've seen icicles here.

into 2nd snow here in NJ, right across Delaware from Philly. watched wind/snow blow until it got dark last night. township plow came thru my little circle around 6 last night. listened to wind howling and things thumping all night. can't really tell but looks like my CRAZY GOOD neighbor had been in and out of my/our driveway several times, so snow at the street looks pretty squished down. had PT scheduled for 3 this afternoon. car is in garage but will still need warming up... pt place is only about 5 minutes away, so teeth would still be chattering if car wasn't warmed up. just got call saying if i wanted to come in at 10:30 that time is open. only shoveling i plan to do is clear room to shuffle from front door to car door.

dug out hat that will make me look sufficiently deranged when out in public. if i don't look crazy with it on, i will when static electricity takes hold when i pull the hat off.

got robo call from water company!! they're experience more water main problems than usual?? that's scary! i think worst would be if power goes out... keeping fingers crossed and knocking on my wooden head!

Here we are, alive and well, it's so beautiful looking outside but bitter cold and all the snow is ice now. Massive flooding in our harbor and millions in damages but no deaths. We are blessed. Now to try and open the door, lol, frozen shut with a two foot drift of ice leaning on it. Time to get the heat gun out.

My son was suppose to come Tuesday but called....he couldn't leave because his pipes were frozen. It took 11 hours to thaw them out but the good news is, they didn't burst. Once again counting blessings. He's now coming on Sunday. We start a heat wave starting Monday. 50 degrees. YEAH!
