Newbie's Question: Are Ceiling Medallions supposed to "Match"?
Comments (10)Hey everyone, Uploading photos below. You'll see through-shots of the three rooms in question: a living room (near the far window/wall), a sort of foyer area (in the middle of the two other rooms), and the dining room. The dining room currently has no light. Just wires hanging out the wall. The medallions in question are in the living room and foyer/entry area. They are the same medallion. They have the same lamp--though it's hung at different heights. We bought the house that way and just haven't had time or energy to toggle the base of the lamps as we've been setting up other things. My questions for the Houzz community: --Do we want/need to have a third medallion that matches in the dining room--or should the dining room medallion be "matched" instead to whatever light we put under it? --Should medallions technically only be paired with chandeliers and pendants? Would it be crazy to put some sort of flush mount on a medallion? (I've included an illustrative photo of the kind of flush mount we'd considered at the end of the list.) Thank you all for your help! 1) This shot is taken from the kitchen, facing the dining room, foyer area and living room (in that order). 2)This is from the foyer/entry area, looking to small living room area. Both the lights here are the same, with same medallion. (The third "light" is just a reflection on glass.) 3.) This is the best I could do with light on. 4.) This is best I could do with light off (in living room). 5.) This is view from living room, back towards dining room (and kitchen, which we're about to remodel). Light pictured up top is foyer/entry light. 6.) This is an example of the kind of flush mount I'm wondering if we could put in dining room on a medallion (and if so, what kind of medallion). Thank you! --AB...See MoreJarringly orange ceiling medallion--HELP!!
Comments (27)Yes, the height is what made me think I can't do it myself--it's an awfully long way up! Thank you for all your advice, everyone, and for confirming that $500 is crazy! Maybe it's because I wasn't going to have him paint that ceiling, originally. Maybe after he agrees to paint the ceiling, he won't charge me extra for medallion? Fingers crossed! I don't know what material it is, but Rustoleum is supposed to work on anything, right? Ceiling will be Chantilly Lace. I assume I just get "White", right? Any particular formulation better than others? Sorry that I'm completely clueless!!...See MoreCan a ceiling medallion help cover this mess?
Comments (11)Yikes. I don’t know if they can tackle that. They have to replace all the flooring in the entire home, paint everything and replace countertops. Plus a ton of other stuff. Painting the ceiling seems hard (they are not very handy - lol). Now they do have to paint the ceiling in the basement and that will get interesting! Haha. Great kids. They just work crazy hours and have so much to do....See Moreglass ceiling medallion
Comments (4)Tozmo is correct. (ETA: And Amy Lynn. We were posting at same time.) It belongs to this blogger; she used Rustoleum black spray paint, you can see in her dining room stories: https://www.instagram.com/p/CI9B6_nnjUs/?utm_medium=copy_link https://www.instagram.com/p/CEF4MzMJWdC/?utm_medium=copy_link https://www.instagram.com/p/CB_I4NYlgXS/?utm_medium=copy_link She said the color in the photo is because it’s reflecting nearby green walls. Lots of places sell this medallion, do a search for more....See Morebossyvossy
