My Pillow, anyone use one?

I did a search and it came up with nothing, sorry if this is a repeat post. Any info would be appreciated.

Kohls sells them. You should go take a look. My mother & grandmother used to cut up carpet foam and make fake fur pillows to sell at church bazaars. People loved her pillows, she sold out! As far as I can tell there is NO difference. Same thing. Can't for the life of me believe she didn't patent that.

A friend has one and he said it was too hot for him to use so his wife is using it. I can't see paying $60 for a pillow so no way it'd come into my house. And that clown that advertises them is so obnoxious I'd never buy it anyway. They run those commercials about every 5 min it seems. Ugh.

Anyone tried using Preen near/on Peonies?

    Q

    Comments (0)
I would like to use Preen near my peonies to keep weeds out of my garden. It's not listed on the label as an approved plant to use Preen on. My peonies are along a hilltop in a row, with daylilies & phlox further down the hill. I figure if I put Preen 1.5 feet away from the peonies' centers it would be OK? Or has anyone tried putting preen directly around peonies? The label says you can try it on plants not on their list & see what happens, but I don't want to risk it!

Cable filters and if anyone has used one before?

    Q

    Comments (0)
Just finished reading some threads/posts so I decided to go ahead and post my experience. Just a little over 8 months ago now, literally the day before my second daughter was delivered, my oldest boy came into my office/dining room (no jokes please) with a grin like the Grinch on his face. He wanted me to buy one of those digital filters. He always has me paying $50 for his wrestling WWF stuff and I've also been known to watch a good boxing match every once in a while. Long story short, I got one of those cable filters for my Motorola DVR box in the living room WITHOUT, telling the kids or the old lady ;). I still make the kids ask to order stuff but when the bill comes there's no sign of anything, heh. Every month I squeeze about 30 PPV's out of it without having to clear the memory on the box. If I only order like 20-25 ppvs in a month, then I don't need to clear the box because it clears on its own every 30 days. I figured if it didn't work I'd just get my money back since they have like a year guarantee or somethin like that (had to check my bookmarks www.cableboxfilters.com). BTW, does anyone know what the Cablecard slot does?. I've never seen anyone who used theirs and I don't understand what it would be used for. Is it for the cable guy when it's being installed or something? Thanks and God bless! L. MacArthur

Has Anyone Had an island 14 ft or longer and used only one slab?

    Q

    Comments (21)
Bookmatching happens when two slabs are cut in sequence, so the pattern is identical, then they are opened up like the facing pages of a book, and those are the surfaces that are finished, the surfaces that were originally together. So you get a mirror image of the pattern on each slab. Then you just lay out the two pieces of the template such that where the seam will be, the pattern matches up, vein for vein. It doesn't have to be an edge, but each piece of the template has to be placed in the corresponding location on the two slabs. I'm not explaining this very well. Do you sew? It's like matching stripes when you lay out a pattern. You can get chevron patterns when the veins are going diagonally up on one piece and down on the other, and they meet in a "V" formation.

Has Anyone Here Purchased or Used One of the New GE Top Loaders?

    Q

    Comments (6)
Go to Automatic Washer.org. Someone there recently got one. Already a problem and they are sending it back. I think (not sure) there are also some videos there. I saw vids somewhere and it is a loud washer when washing. You will have to return to push the add water button until you get a full tub. It adds 6 gals when you push it, then for more another push the way I understand it. I would either go with a SQ or another FLor a different HE top load before this one. I believe the GE HE top load washer is much better than the one you are considering from what I have read. You Tube may have videos also.

We’ve needed new pillows for quite sometime but I just couldn’t bring myself to buy that junk in the stores. I ended up doing a little research online and decided to put the pillow I’ve linked to below on my Christmas list. I had regular foam loft in my old pillows and was tickled to find a pillow with lofted memory foam that could be adjusted. They’re also hypoallergenic, mite resistant, washable and made in the USA which were all pluses to me as well. Since there’s a 30 day return policy I decided to give it a try.

    Coop Home Goods Pillow

Surprisingly, the pillow comes in a fairly small compact parcel. Once you open it, the foam takes a little while to expand, but eventually, it’s generously sized and VERY firm. They obviously pack with the intent to meet the most extreme circumstance of firmness and then one can remove the loft as desired to meet their own specific needs. The cover is amazingly soft and feels cool to the touch, it’s super comfy to lay on. Within 30 minutes of opening it, my DH was hooked and ready to steal it from me, so I’ve bought two more.

I’ve started to adjust the first one. I’ve removed enough loft to fill half of a kitchen sized trash bag and the pillow is still large. By the time we finish adjusting all three, we’ll have enough “extra” loft that we can buy a separate cover and make a 4th pillow with it. Coop Home Goods also sells their covers and loft separately so that’s what we plan on doing.

We didn’t notice any off gassing from the foam until we opened the pillow and started to move the loft around. It was never strong but it’s almost completely gone now.

I did take a look at the mypillow; I don’t know what it was exactly, maybe the style of marketing they use, but something told me to keep looking. I didn’t spend any time researching their product but did notice that they don’t fair as well as the Coop pillow does on Amazon.

Nicole, now I know where you got all your creative talent from. :c)

My sister has one and thinks it is wonderful. She is 88 and has spine problems. Claims she sleeps better using that pillow than she has in a long time.

Lots of people like them. We have a couple, but they are too "fat" for me, give me a stiff neck. Maybe they have flatter ones than ours. It's so hard to find the perfect pillow.

A friend said he has one and loves it and even bought the dog bed for his dog. He thinks they are cheap...HAHA! Has more money than he knows what to do with apparently. I have a latex pillow from BBB and I really love that. I think that you could buy it from some place that takes anything back and if you hate it, take it back...you'd have nothing to lose that way.

I haven't slept on one. We made a mad last minute dash through Costco week before Christmas and they had them. DH pushed on the sample with the heels of his hands and pronounced them too firm. I didn't have a chance to even handle them myself. I bought new Hungarian down a few weeks ago - and those are proving to be too firm ;(

I have fallen in love with latex pillows and that's all I will have now. Some are very expensive, but there are great ones for decent prices. Bed bath and beyond has a nice one for under $50. One of mine survived the flood because it was up in the high part of the rv bedroom that did not get water. All the ones in the house were lost of course. I can not do memory foam in any form and definitely not pillows I tried it and my head was soaking wet.

I have the same pillow from BBB as raven, bought it based on recommendations here. I believe it was only about $25 plus used a coupon. I absolutely love mine. It's the best pillow that I've ever had.

I have only ever used down pillows and love them.

BB&B also sells My Pillow. I do not have one but have heard both good and bad reviews from friends who bought them. I have a bad neck and for years the contour pillows helped but now they make it worse. I bought a body pillow from Walmart for $8 .99 and strictly by accident, found it was the perfect support and softness for my neck. I wound up cutting it in half and putting each half in a zippered pillow cover, then a pillow case. The stuffing was more like a cotton batting stuffing. Works for me. My neck hasn't hurt since and for $9.00 I got two pillows :-)))

My husband is something of a pillow collector....tries one, loves it for a while, but begins to complain again. After a year of using the last version of 'the best pillow ever', he bought My Pillows for both of us, much to my irritation.

This was about a year ago. As far as I'm concerned, it is the best pillow ever. We purchased ours during a BOGO sale, don't remember what he paid for it. But it was worth it.

These dumb pillows have completely resolved stiff neck issues for us both since the very first night. They do come in fullness levels; mine is less stuffed than his.

I love an old-fashioned feather pillow. Not down, just plain old chicken feathers! My sweet Grandma made her own pillows from the soft feathers she plucked off her chickens when she butchered them--I still have and use them, a few decades later. I like that I can "punch" them into the perfect shape and they stay just that way.

I bought one locally but wish I had ordered it on TV so I could have gotten 2/1. I love mine, especially being able to wash it.

    Haven't ever seen My Pillow.

A few years ago I came across a gel foam pillow at TJ Maxx. 2 for around 30$. I did buy it and am ever so glad I did. I have a problem with pillows..can never find one I like until I *break* one in and by than its time to toss. I took these home removed the zippered cotton cover and found a mesh type cover filled with what looked like cut up pieces of blueish foam. Anyway of course the pillow was to full, too thick so I used a seam ripper and opened one end part way and removed about 1/4 of the foam pieces that did have some gel in each one. Sewed it back up and I have the absolute best pillow I've ever used. I was worried about washing this but knew I had to eventually try. Even though I use a pillow protector and a pillowcase pillows still need washed or the mites will take over. I took it to a laundramat, put it into a huge mesh washing bag and washed in hot water. Tossed in the dryer and hung on the line. Perfect. I still have the second one put back for when I need it. Hubs uses a down filled and loves it. I think it must me 20 years old now. I wash it about every 2 months. The kids all use the poly filled because they are cheaper, they like them, and I can toss and replace without it hurting.

We have them and we love them.

I was just at BB&B and there was the mypillow front and center by the registers. I checked it out. Meh....compared to the one’s I just bought it’s very cheapy feeling, I was not impressed at all especially when you consider how much they charge for them.

The ones at the stores aren’t the same, The ones you order have a gusseted side. They come in many fill weights and you can even order a custom fill. I use the lightest weight and my husband likes the next heavier. If you get one and it’s not right for you, you can send it back for a different one. I’ve bought 6 so far. Some for our bed and some for the guest bed. I like them a lot.

My sister and brother-in-law have My Pillows and they love them. I've thought about getting them but I still like my Northern Nights (from QVC) feather pillows with a down center.

Nest. Perfect support for us. It's a blend of latex and synthetic fibers. Firm, and supportive, especially for side sleepers. Has gussets. Made in USA. Easy Breather "Natural" Pillow.

    $99

I don't have one but if this is the product I'm thinking of, the company's owner appears in TV commercials with a too large to be tasteful crucifix around his neck and outside his shirt. I wouldn't buy the product for that reason alone, I think that's very inappropriate.

My wife recently bought new down pillows at Costco and they're pretty nice. Inexpensive too, as I recall.

I wouldn't mind trying the My Pillow. I use a down or down alternative, it's so old I can't remember now. I just picked up a new pack of pillows at Costco today. Down alternative, $15.99. I think they had a pack of down pillows for $39.99. Not a bad price at all for down.

I have one. Has to be fluffed up every morning. I like it as well as any. I'm like the person above. Every new pillow is perfect for a while.

A few months ago I mentioned to someone I was thinking about getting one. She told me she had one I could try. She even had taken some of the stuffing out of it and still didn't like it. I tried it and it felt like it was enclosing around me. Maybe it is my claustrophobia, but I definitely didn't like it. One day I saw her again and she asked me how I liked it. I told her what I felt like when I used it. I told her that if I had known I would see her I would have brought it along to give it back. She told me she didn't want it back. My DH uses it now, but he bunches it up so much I don't think he would be a good person to ask how he likes it.

I tried one and could not stand it. Gave it to Goodwill. It felt weird and cheap.

Who notices what is around anyone neck?

Well, ronm, as I said, it's too large to be tasteful and it's obviously visible (slightly smaller than what a Catholic priest conducting Mass might wear, or what you might see the Pope wearing when in public ). I think it would be hard to miss. I don't wish to receive religious messages embedded in product commercials. If you saw a commercial conducted by a woman wearing a burqa with a full face shield, would you take notice and think it might be out of place? I suspect the answer is yes and that was my reaction with this guy.

Elmer, that's the first thing that I noticed was the gold cross. When I see religious items and messages on advertisements, I'm always thinking they are just using that as an advertisement ploy "Look at me, I'm so trustworthy because I am religious, I won't dare rip you off". And I see "DON'T TRUST THEM!"

Like a lot of products the "My Pillow" comes in many lines. We got ours on a two for one sale at Shop ko and no way I spent $50 on them. They are like any other foam filled pillow. Their beauty is they are completely washable. After years, DECADES with the same feather pillow it was falling apart and I had to find a new one. What a chore. Now DH and I pretty much get a new pillow every year. They just do not hold their supportive powers. Washing the My Pillow does help and when you figure the dust mite issue washing and DRYING ON HOT gives me great pleasure. I have seen the My Pillow store in the mall, and many commercials..NEVER have I seen a gold cross associated with them, and priests don't wear them just to say Mass.

The owner of My Pillow sent 60 thousand pillows down to Houston after the hurricane. Yeah. He’s a terrible person.

If you aren’t happy with your My Pillow, it’s possible it’s not the correct fill weight. The company wants you to be happy with their product. Let them know! And I really like how a wash/dry freshens up the foam fill. I used to be a down pillow lover but they got SO expensive, I thought $50 for a pillow was a good risk since they have a money-back offer.

I have to admit that I hate his commercials and hate that he wears that huge crucifix pulled awkwardly out of this buttoned up shirt.

But the product is a marvel to me. I will be washing both of ours today, in the same load of laundry.

Maybe trying to make up for the Lawsuits and the Better Business Bureaus of a couple states taking away their accreditation?

You Too may be able to get some $$$ back

eta: to say Better Business Bureaus because BBB can also mean Bed Bath and Beyond

    goose down another source

hopefully this info will change some minds about buying down/feather products.

Whatever he wears is not important to me. His product lacks quality and performance. My decision is based on product, not person. Too many sleepers consider a pillow as an accessory instead of an important component of sleep restoration.

He should learn a lesson from advertising school. Cleavage works, religious expression doesn't.

Shop for bedding online and you'll see more skin there than you do in your own bedroom.

I don’t really care what someone uses for advertising since I hardly ever watch commercials, I zoom thru them with the DVR 99% of the time. (Unless there’s an animal in the commercial, those I go back and watch.) Would you be less offended/more entertained if he used half-naked female hotties? I’m thinking firefighters might be an idea!

I'm disappointed! After reading Lukkiirish's post about the Coop Home Goods pillow and doing some further reading, I was all set to order one. But I remembered that memory foam hardens in cold temperatures and softens when warm--and my bedroom is unheated. Sure enough, I found reports of the pillow getting hard in a chilly room. That would not be good.

I stayed in a hotel recently, and was surprised to find I loved the pillow. It seemed to be filled with shredded foam, and it might have been similar to the Coop Home Goods pillow. It felt great, but the room was fairly warm.

I've used down pillows my whole life, but lately I've been dissatisfied with them. I have several, and the one I tend to choose most often is actually two down pillows (old, tired ones) zipped into a pillow protector together. It's time for a change.

    last modified: 7 years ago

My experience is like yours, that down pillows do have a limited life and need to be discarded and replaced periodically. I haven't found a way to salvage them when they get "tired".

I wish one of my other down pillows would get just a little tired. It's so energetic that it puffs up around my ears when I lie on it. Not too terrible in winter, but uncomfortable in summer.

Apparently the MyPillow isn't made of memory foam, so it might work for me in my cold bedroom. But it's so expensive--especially considering what must be their rather minimal material costs. Are there any bargains out there? I don't need two pillows, just one.

    Alisande,

I didn’t read a lot of the reviews and didn’t know that the foam gets hard in the cold. We sleep with the window open though so it’s the same as no heat, (47 inside last night). I hadn’t noticed that it was getting hard, but wasn’t really paying attention to that either. If it helps, I can monitor it for the next few nights to see how it does. They are heavy...I wasn’t expecting that even though I should have been, our latex mattress is heavy as well. I can see how it wouldn’t be for everyone, but I like it. We’re also side sleepers.

This one has a 30 day return policy, but there is another one that’s similar with a 120 day return policy. If they’re sold by Amazon, the return ship should be free.

Thank you, Irish. I hate to put you to any trouble. I was thinking of possibly getting one with the thought that if it hardens in the winter I'll save it for the warmer months. My memory foam cervical pillow is presently like a brick. I don't know how cold my room gets these days, but 47 sounds pretty chilly to me! I know that it takes a real act of will to get myself out of bed on cold mornings. :-)

    last modified: 7 years ago

No trouble at all, we even keep our thermostate in the 60’s during winter. Would hate for you to buy it and then be unhappy though. Does the foam in your foam cervical pillow get soft again in the warmer months? Because these pillows are so packed, I’m wondering if splitting the fill in two and alternating it during the seasons is a plausible idea. I will start paying attention tonight. Ha! 47 is cold. I’m very lukki, my sweet DH always offers to shut the window and turn on the heat so it’s warm by the time we get up for the day.
