Help fabricator messed up backsplash -Carrara/espresso Bath
Comments (6)Whether you do a sidesplash or not, I absolutely agree with pamelah that the solid backsplash is the way to go (rather than tile). Honestly, I prefer to go without sidesplash in general. However, if you feel like the sidesplash is important (either functionally or visually), I think what they are proposing looks just fine, not like a mistake at all. My vote would first be to go with just the backsplash (no sidesplash) with the curved design symmetrical on both sides. My next choice would be to go with exactly what is in your drawing. I think either choice would be lovely and will just depend on your visual preference and functional needs. Regardless, your vanities are beautiful and your countertops are stunning!...See MoreIs this messed up or what?
Comments (16)I agree, the one inch gap doesn't sound right, but I bet it could easily be fixed with a piece of trim. I don't know how to describe it exactly. We have a some trim around one of our top cabinets (the cabinet was going in between two walls) It is about maybe an inch wide, maybe a half a centimeter thick, but it fits right over the edge of the cabinet and butts up to the wall. I would imagine the only other option would be to remake those two cabinets. I am not sure how it works....how close are you to "move in ready"? do you have countertops? I assume that you bought "the plans of a house" so to speak You buy it they build it and you got to have input on finishes etc? I wonder if you could find yourself a home inspector it may be worth paying someone with credibility to make him fix anything else that is wrong. Best of luck...See MoreHELP!!! Granite installation mess up!!!
Comments (20)Thank you everyone! It is very confusing as to what to do. The issue is that they did a standard 1 1/2" overhang even though the cabinets are very close to the wall. Seems like it would be a mess to fix in place - they'd be shaving off about an 1", which doesn't seem like it would be all that easy. Taking it off and doing it in the workshop 45min away doesn't seem that easy either. I think, perhaps, that once we have "moved back in" to the kitchen, it might not be as apparent. It is very similar to mama_goose's picture (which I thank you for, by the way!). There will be things to distract your eye from it, maybe. So, I guess we'll live with it and see what happens. I may call the granite fabricator and just see what they could do, should we decide to have them rectify the situation. Thanks again - your ideas and thoughts were helpful! Glad to hear that, while it isn't totally right, it isn't the worst thing!...See MoreI messed up my sink!
Comments (33)I think it looks great and will work just fine, so I'm mostly on board with the "let sleeping marble lie" faction. On the other hand, you know yourself best, and if it's something that you'll notice and be bothered by whenever you use the sink, it's probably worth it to fork over the money now for peace of mind later. That being said, I did get a positive reveal on my Whitehaven so that there's no gunk under the reveal and in hopes of using accessories. Erica L, do you know which drying rack that is? I've looked at some online but was worried that they might be too short to fit front-to-back. And anyone use a cutting board that fits snugly against the sloping inside face? (sorry to hijack)...See More- 6 years ago
