I'm not sure I'd put food into a container I got used unless it had a really impervious surface. It might have been used for soap before, or something else. I buy used glassware and dishes, and use them without a second thought, but if it is a bit absorptive... or if you can't get right into it to really scrub it out... I dunno. KarinL

Check your math Sween....68 oz is about 2 quarts....and for $11 something, pleanty cheap...but then so are a lot of other things at Sam's...like Bombay gin and basamati rice. Buying in quantity tends to reduce the price per oz or per item.....this same oil costs a lot more by the 8 oz bottle at the grocery store. Yes...it IS EVOO....green and fruity. They have several brands at about the same price. The bottle I currently have is Bertoli...it gets pretty firm and cloudy at refrigerator temps. I bought it to make a boat load of pesto ( incidentally using Parmaganio Reggiano I bought at Sams for about $12 a pound) and found I liked it a lot. Incidentally I also know my way around a kitchen....and spent a lot of years feeding my family dinner like they might eat at a fine resturaunt on a daily basis. Ever been to a fancy food show? The display of olive oils is amazing, displayed in footed wine glasses, with a dish and bread cubes for sampling....and about every color of yellow, amber, green and olive....all of them very pricey EVOOs. There are the Greeks, and the Italians, Spanish, Portuguese, Isralis etc....all with their tables set out showing their oils. Olive oil is rather like wine....experts can tell where and when the fruit was grown.....and price doesn't always equate with the best taste. And I fry things in EVOO....as well as in butter....and a mix of the two......and unless I get a phone call and am distracted, things sautee well and never burn! Linda C

Sarcasm aside, a good grandmother trick for cleaning out things like that is a healthy squirt of dish soap and a handful of rice or kosher salt. A bit of warm water, and some healthy cocktail-shaking or shekere-playing movements, then dump out the contents and rinse the bottle. It may take a few tries, but the rice or coarse salt scours the oil off the sides. C'mon Lou; it's a legit question. No need to urge someone to commit suicide. If you just want to pi$$ people off, there's got to be an easier way.

I have one (cheapo from local discount store) and it lasts about 3-6 months. I toss and replace as needed. But I usually chop veggies for roasting and put in a bowl, drizzle with oil and toss with my hands. Spread them on a baking sheet and sprinkle with seasonings. Yes, there's some oil left in the bowl and I have to wash it, but it achieves what I want. I use the sprayer for a quick shot in a non-stick pan to saute onions, fry eggs, etc. Things that I need very little. I haven't had good luck with cheap spray bottles. I saved a "Can't believe it's not Butter" spray bottle and filled with Canola oil. We'll see. Only going a week or so. Even so, if the bottle was free and I got another few weeks/months use out of it, that works for me!!!!! Deanna
