Thank you for your concern Sofla and may flowers . I am not done with my bathroom yet because I have a crappy GC . Every step is delayed and has problems in it . I got delayed in the marble for the vanity because he didn't finish the vanity on time to take the template . So I got my marble for the tub deck and two weeks later I got the marble for the vanity . The tower was delivered a week after the vanity only to find out that he made it 18 " deep while I asked it to be 12" . He argued with me that 12" is too small so he made it 15" and delivered it a week later . My husband and I hated it , so he took it back on Tuesday to make it 12" and it's not back yet . Meanwhile , he is still working on the wood for the side panels of the tub deck , baseboards and door and window frames . The tile guy is waiting for the tower so he could do the backsplash and grout around the tub . My shower door is ordered and should be here according to him soon . All the walls have dents and scratches , so the painter should be back too . I can't tell you how frustrated I am with this GC . He is so unorganized , irresponsible , it's always not his fault if something goes wrong . He screwed up my drawers , made me two premade u cut drawers with a 13" cut in the middle ( which is making me loose 1/3 of each drawer ) for the four bottom drawers under each sink . I have a yellow stain on my shower threshold from the splash of yellow water that was in the pipes when they installed the shower fixtures . I discovered the yellow droplets 4 hours after his workers left without cleaning after themselves . For the drawers I am thinking of making him get me regular drawers and I will get somebody else to cut them for me . For the stain , he said that he will use something like an acid to remove it . I hope that God will give me the patience to finish up this project that this GC made me hate .

I'm wondering about that 'Danby Majestic.' I hadn't heard of that variety of the stone and so went to the website of the folks who quarry Danby. They list these: Olympian White, Mountain White, Appalachian Green, Royal, Eureka Calacatta, Imperial, Montclair Arbescato and Mariposa, and Crystal Stratus. They also have something called Vermont Verde Cavendish, from another quarry. I believe they hold the trademark to 'Danby Marble.' I'm just beginning to explore Danby, so I'd curious to know more about 'Majestic' or if there are in fact other quarry sources of Danby. Given your staining experience -- which from what I understand sounds unusual -- I wonder if someone slapped the name on a different stone. I think the lighting makes a big difference! When we had the marble in the middle of the living room, the etching wasn't really noticeable. When I moved it right by the window, it really showed up...so I'm thinking marble will not be by the window :) Seriously, we are thinking about moving the baking area to where we were going to leave an existing desk space. That extra few feet will make a big difference and is still pretty close to the oven.

Deep in my heart, I'm thinking that if I can keep the Better Boy purchased plant happy enough, we might get a ripe tomato earlier than ever before. Only that one tomato plant raised from seed has managed to flower before Super Bowl Sunday and might produce fruit almost as quickly as the purchased plant, but others that are equally large might bloom soon. Some of them are getting that look about them. If only the weather would settle down a little so I could start the whole routine of carrying plants out into the sunlight. I am concerned about the chickens getting the green plants, which has not been a problem in the past. This group of chickens, largely new to us last Spring, are different though---they love green plants and travel far and wide, free-ranging about 4 times farther than any other flock we've ever had, looking for greens and insects daily. I'm probably going to have to carry the flats out to the garden so I can lock out the chickens. In the past, I just put the flats on a table and the birds left them alone. I don't think that will work this year. Our weather is so crazy. I'm looking forward to the warming trend that begins in earnest tomorrow, but not looking forward to the escalating fire danger. Our soil is warmer than usual for this time of the year, and our forecast high for Monday is 77. That seems like it would be a good day to plant onions if I am at home. I hate planting in cold weather, and this year I think I won't even have to do it---at least not with the onions.
