Need help decorating living/ dining room wall
Comments (37)OK, I have only rarely seen a 70" round table so that is good info that yours is 60" So that last drawing has the right size table. Once you get your furniture arrangement set up, then we can determine how to best deploy your art. I'm thinking of a "grouping" on the dining side of that long wall. Perhaps the biggest (crab?) and then stacking some on each side of it, or even adding to the grouping to make up a "gallery" look. We can figure that out later....See MoreHelp I need to decorate my dining room area
Comments (4)To start i would remove all the open shelving in the kitchen that cannot be reached easily....this just adds a cluttered feel and draws the eye too high... also remove the small shelving units until you are finished furnishing..and can find a spot where they fit and serve a purpose.... for your described lifestyle i would not want the kitchen so open to view...either an island or another L in the peninsula will give you lots of extra storage and seating and an inviting spot for buffets...or party food.... NEXT....Since you have such an open floor plan i would select big beautiful decorative rugs to define all the different areas....to guide you in decor and furniture color choices....but most importantly provide you with a perfect guide for what size furnishings will fit in each area...See MoreHelp decorate my living area/dining room. Comments (30)jennifer, if you want to do a slat wood wall (there are a lot of tutorials on how to do it. it's mainly 1x1 or 1x2 wood 'sticks' that are 8'-10' tall. you could use fir and stain them. or you could paint them black. or, if you have a bigger budget, get walnut or something similar. walnut you'd only have to oil. it's a red wood. just a medium brown tone that would great w/the floors. if you like a more natural color, look at 1x2 white oak pieces. (any lumber place should have them) a satin oil finish is all you would need. those can also be stained a walnut color. (oak is cheaper than natural walnut this one is actually poplar that they painted. if you're goign to paint, use poplar wood https://brepurposed.porch.com/2020/01/20/diy-wood-slat-walls/ so, you'd paint the wall black, and attatch the slats. this looks like Alder that has been stained a darker walnut stain. here's the lighter stain color. you could also get plywood and rip it to 1" pieces (however, plywood and lumber have skyrocketed this last year. it's ridiculous what a sheet of plywood costs.) https://simplyalignedhome.com/affordable-slat-wall/ I think if you even did the entry niche w/some type of slat or design would look great I'd go all the way down, and prop paint it black, or do the wall in black and do walnut wood pieces. or, I like this too. find a cool black/white/gray piece of art, something more vertical, and hang it. bring in some bright color stools to fit under the marble. bring in a entry way rug that matches or make a cool design and use that as your art element in the niche (I actually made a headboard similar to this one out of scrap wood pieces. came out really cool) over on the dining wall, you could easily do a living plant wall...See MoreI need help arranging the furniture in this living and dining area
Comments (3)I would try switching out the loveseat and the chair (even tho the loveseat might go beyond the wall). You need end tables and lamps and COLOR...a rug in the area of the sofa with some color and a coffee table if there is room. If the loveseat works in the new spot, you might be able to fit a console table behind it with a lamp on it and still leave room for a painting on the wall. Make sure the art you get is not too small. Go big, go colorful. Experiment with moving the table where the living room furniture is and see if the living room furniture might not be easier to arrange where the table is now. More pics of the area and a floor plan would help....See MoreAgata Lialko
