Looking for some suggestions on cabinet/kitchen layout

I've been told this is a helpful spot to get some cabinet design help/ideas. I'm building my own home and looking for ideas for cabinets that aren't going to break the bank. Attached is my floor plan. I'm not attached to anything on it other than the sink in the island (plumbing is in). I may wire for a double wall oven but it wont be in the initial build for budget reasons. Where i'm at, there are no inspections other than a final inspection so i'm open to doing things a little bit not by the book. I have a vent for the toilet in the wall that the baking station will probably be on and am debating sneaking a small bar sink in there so i can have water right at the baking station. thoughts?

I want my lowers to have a majority of drawers but figure i should probably have some cabinets? one thing i want for 100% for sure is a baking station that I can have my mixer/etc left on the counter but has doors to hide it. I'd also either like a similiar setup for blender/smoothies but its probably best idea to just incorporate that right in with the baking station? I have a a friend that recently built went with wholesalecabinetswarehouse.com and highly recommends them. They're RTA cabinets but come from china. He's very happy with their quality. They dont really have the finish/look i'd like so i'm open to other options that aren't garbage. I'm attaching their layout that they proposed. Being made in china they dont do much if anything for customization... which really limited the design of the baking station.

In regards to their layout. i'd probably swap out a few more lower drawers. Their solution for a "baking cabinet" is just a standard cabinet turned 90°... which is kind of limiiting. it seems to me like i almost have too many cabinets (my partner would never agree though!).

Hopefully this is enough to get a little feedback.

Suggestions i've received... swap fridge to far left, ditch all the upper cabinets, ditch the floor to ceiling cabinets since i have a big pantry

Why not put the oven wiring on the baking run? If you move the DW and sink to the right, you can have clean-up on that end, then prep in a nice triangle between pantry, fridge, and range/cooktop. Dishes can be kept in a dish hutch, which will balance the fridge, and on the other side of the fridge you could have a coffee station in a full height cabinet. Or put the MW in the cabinet beside the fridge, with the coffee maker below.

I drew a shallow open shelf above the the baking counter, with an 18" sink for rinsing hands, and secondary prep. A bar sink will be too small/shallow to be much good there. Even though the baking counter is now smaller, you have plenty of space for mixing, and you can turn and use the short side of the island for lining up baking sheets or rolling dough. My favorite pace to roll dough and make noodles is the short side of my 3' x 5' island.

I drew a hood 6" wider than the cooktop--important if there are no upper cabinets to help contain the plume of steam and grease.

In the above plan, I left the (yellow KA :) mixer on the counter, but if you really need it hidden, you could use an appliance garage like the following, on the end by the pantry, preserving landing space beside the wall ovens.

I think she is saying to put the sink where the stove is and the stove on the wall opposite the peninsula (where all the cabinets are.) This would still give you a view, only better because you would be able to see out both windows. This would also help break up that wall of cabinets at that end. In my house our kitchen is open to the dining room and I would never expect someone to sit at the island and eat instead of taking three or four more steps to the dining room table and you would essentially have that same setup with your peninsula and dining room. My first thought was that the end where all the cabinets are is a great place for a banquette, but I had not gotten further than that to the cooking space layout. Can you share a link of your layout? There should be a way to email yourself, and the email will contain a link you can share here with us and we can play around with it. :o) But not destroy your original design, of course.

hi thanks for the suggestions. There isn't enough room to install an under cabinet microwave - there's only a few inches of clearance now with the microwave sitting under the cabinets. practigal- what do you mean 'buy a popup' ? We normally drink coffee where ever. We don't actually make coffee that often. The microwave gets used daily. Toaster is probably every other day or so. Coffee maker even less frequently. And mixer less still - although i think that will go up a bit shortly. also just to clarify, on the left side window, at what is the bottom in the layout picture, there isn't enough counterspace to store any of the items without blocking the window, other then maybe the coffee maker. also, there's no outlets over there. The closest outlets are on the top of that window under the cabinets. Otherwise I think i would have probably gotten a little corner stand/cart and put most of those items on that cart.

I like MamaGoose's second layout. I don't think the refrigerator will block the FR view b/c there's a wall there that continues past the refrigerator. As long as you don't haven't any seats on the short end of the island on the DR side, I think you will be OK with 51" or so b/w the island DR table. I'd prefer 54", but 51" will work. I would not go any less b/c that is most likely going to be a busy aisle going to/from the Family Room and the Mudroom & the rest of the house. It looks like your island is sized nicely with at least a 15-inch overhang + the 1" for the decorative doors/end panels on the back of the island cabinets. Aim for aisles around 48" to/from the items that stick out into the aisles the farthest (e.g., refrigerator doors/handles, counter edges, etc.). Don't measure them cabinet-to-cabinet - that's incorrect.

I never like banquette seating it is awkward to move in and out of . Why not just a smaller table maybe round and lose the island which IMO is too small anyway and has noproper spacing around it for walkways.. I do not like dead corners but that might just be the software you are using. I would like to see a floor plan with as much detail as possible and an understanding of how much seating you really need in the kitchen. Floors IMO are best kept the same as the floors in adjoining spaces.As for colors I would need to see those adjoining spaces . A counter depth fridge would be good
