@Porter, I didn't get the LED Edison bulbs yet-the store where we got the pendants gave me 3 halogen bulbs to see if it was better for me as I didn't like the yellow light at all. I am still going to order them when I do a Prime order to see the difference. That fixture is in a nook--off centered from the pendants--it comes with a chain ;however I am undecided if a table is going to go there or it will stay open, so had it semi-flush mounted. Does it look odd or out of place? @Beth, Right now they are 34" so when the quartz is installed, it should be about 32 33" from counter to bottom of lights. They seem high, but any lower they are going to be in our eyes.

the pendants are all wrong for what you need, and how you have them placed. No single pendant lights. is there anyway you could add recessed lighting over the cabs and do a single type of pendant over you island? if doing recessed isn't an option (future goals) Then look for 2 semi-flush mount lights with multiple bulbs. you want something that can take 75-100W. (also, adaptable for sloped ceilings) two of these would give you some nice light in there. This is why I always have the electrician run the supply wires in the ceiling, with plenty of slack. We wait until after the drywall is done to cut the holes and use remodel boxes. People can’t visualize. Even when you draw them diagrams. Or, do an actual real completed DESIGN from the beginning, with all choices measured and specified, and SET. Instead of winging it without the ability to visualize. Design BEFORE you do any demolition or building anything. Then the boxes and lights go where they need to go with no angst.

​Light and bright means less stress on the cook's eyes. As we get older,  the amount of light we need to see increases significantly.  Try putting on a pair of sunglasses and reading product labels at night or imagine trying to clean up broken glass from the floor. My parents remodeled a home for retirement 25 years ago and their electrician thought they were crazy with the amount of lighting they installed. Turns out, they have sufficient light for most tasks but have had to upgrade the lightbulbs for increased output in the kitchen, bathrooms and office. So when we started our project, that was their most repeated advice: Add more lights! When you are working on a remodeling project, most work is done during daytime so it isn't obvious when the lighting isn't bright enough. You won't be wrong with adding more lights and it will be more expense and hassle to bring the electrician back in a year or two. If budget is tight, I would choose cheap fixtures and replace later before omitting additional fixtures.
