What SW color is blue-gray and warm?
Comments (15)The way the color wheel goes green is the "warmest" of the cool colors and violet is the coolest. The most common theory of warm and color means splitting the color wheel in half and calling half warm and half cool. It's really an oversimplification of color that's not very useful. Perceptually, we don't sense color as a warm and cool continuum from one side of the color wheel to the other. Rather, warm and cool is a spectrum within each hue family. It's more useful, and arguably more accurate, to break out warm and cool in terms that are aligned to how we actually perceive colors. In the case of this color wheel, warm and cool is designated in the context of the human gamut of color - which is all the colors we can see plus colors that can't be seen or made (yet). When we reframe warm and cool in this context, then it's easy to see that there are indeed blues that are warmer compared to other colors in the same hue family (blue). Warm blues, from saturated to grayed, are from about 235° to 252°. Translated to paint colors, warm blues would be colors in this range: CW-660 CHISWELL BLUE, Benjamin Moore Williamsburg Color Collection HC-145 VAN COURTLAND BLUE, Benjamin Moore Classic colors AF-550 AMSTERDAM, Benjamin Moore Affinity colors 2127-50 PIKE'S PEAK GRAY, Benjamin Moore Color Preview...See MoreGray walls paint fail! Comments (3)Popular Gray from Sherwin Williams. Perfect warmer gray. When I was painting it on my walls I thought for sure they made a mistake and gave me a beige but it's a great gray! I am about to list my house for sale and two realtors have asked me what color the walls are because they also loved it....See MoreSW Repose Gray 50% - Kitchen MAYHEM - Ugly
Comments (16)I like the cab color. The stone has lots of warm tones to it,* so I think you sorta got what you asked for, even if it's not what you imagined. But if you don't like it, you don't like it. Sorry that you are disappointed! My option 4 is "live with it a little while" before making any other moves, if you can. Try to accessorize as others have said. (Spend this time learning more about color theory and undertones, and reviewing the decision process for this color -- "we asked" "that was chosen" ... did you see a sample of this before starting? Is it a shop color or a paint brand color?) Option 2a. Explore if a glaze would be possible that could tone down/neutralize the greens -- note that I have no idea if this would be possible at this stage, let alone less expensive than a whole new paint job, just spitballing. Option 3a. IMO the bright white backsplash is the thing that is really clashing here! *If I recognize that stone right, I had the same one or very similar in a former residence, where it was paired with a very cool-gray marble backsplash and that always bugged me so much!...See MoreSW wall color with gray cabinets
Comments (11)Basement kitchen no windows episodic or part time use? I’d go semi gloss or full on gloss a nice crisp coral or pick your color . Assume this is an end of a space: the gloss will give you a dimension needed with little real light and a color will make it more spirited and have a little more fun W the space. You have made your point w the somber neutrals . Throw in color now , it’s a basement for heavens sake. When we bought our home the previous person in the finished lower level had pink flamingos and neon all over the place. It’s been modified but there is color and pattern just my version now and wallpaper inserted too ....See Morerebeccamomof123
