What about Sherwin Williams Tinsmith? I am painting a bedroom in my house this color and it is really beautiful. It does lean a little blue but still has that soft greyish tint to it. And the reason I fell in love with it is that it doesn't read like a baby blue at all.

It depends so much on your light. I'd try SW Agreeable Gray (more a greige) that may read slightly towards purple. Or BM Balboa Mist, which is very similar.

I second SW Tinsmith. It reads mid-gray in some lights, and blue-gray in others, and is gorgeous.

Nosoccer I think I brought Agreeable Gray home so i will look at it again. I dont have a BM store. Do they sell it inside any other stores like Lowes?

We just painted our house SW Mindful Gray. I was taught by a designer I used to work for to always look to the darkest color in the strip. I was looking for a gray that was warm, and leaned away from cool blue. The last color on the strip for Mindful Gray is a color called Black Fox, which looks like a super dark charcoal bronze, no blue at all. So that's what we did on the shutters. Everyone loves it! We like it so much we are now painting our cabin from the same strip, just 3 shades darker.

Annette, care to post a pic of your Mindful Gray house? It was one of the colors I was considering, a warm gray without blue (oxymoron?) but it looks a little minty on my test boards. I'd love to see it all by itself on a finished project.

I always get a bit confused when someone asks for a warm grey with blue but no green. The way the color wheel goes green is the "warmest" of the cool colors and violet is the coolest. So if you want a warm grey you should be looking at ones with the least purple or blue and go towards green to yellow, orange or red undertones, respectively getting warmer as you go. If you want a blue grey maybe embrace the reality it will be a cool room rather than a warm one.

The most common theory of warm and color means splitting the color wheel in half and calling half warm and half cool. It's really an oversimplification of color that's not very useful.

Perceptually, we don't sense color as a warm and cool continuum from one side of the color wheel to the other. Rather, warm and cool is a spectrum within each hue family.

It's more useful, and arguably more accurate, to break out warm and cool in terms that are aligned to how we actually perceive colors. In the case of this color wheel, warm and cool is designated in the context of the human gamut of color - which is all the colors we can see plus colors that can't be seen or made (yet).

I found SW "Grey Screen" to be somwhat warm, in that it played nicely with warm colors and wood, and is pleasant to look at, does not give that "washed out" feeling I get with so many greys. Not sure it would be right for your bathroom though. I would not go with a blue grey in there, I'd go for a "brown grey" but YMMV. SW has a color called "sticks and stones" you might go with something in that hue. Just my .02. Hang in there, you will find the perfect color!!

Not really warm but I pulled my fandecks out & BM Wickham Gray looks pretty good with SW Web Gray & SW Canvas Tan.

Annette, thanks!! Your house looks wonderful and Mindful Gray looks exactly as my large samples have led me to believe. I really like your front door color too. If I were to paint mine a color other than white, that's what I'd choose.
