Having my favorite cosmetic item discontinued is the story of my life. Never fails! I'm picky too so finding a replacement is brutal for me.

I know the disappointment. Both my neutral lip pencil and my everyday eyeshadow shade that I've worn for years were discontinued. As it turns out, Chantecaille seems to have brought the eyeshadow back - after I stockpiled ;0) I bought enough of each to last the next couple of years before they disappeared from the shelves. I can postpone the search for good alternatives until later and that suits me fine.

If only someone could duplicate my favorite curl setting mascara. I still haven't found one I like as well as the old/discontinued I'd been used to buying.

Try Ebay, I found a Lancome makeup that was discontinued for a long time. Better, half price. Obviously after date, but have never had any problem. Worth a look.

They changed the colour range of my favourite eyebrow pencils. Now the medium is too light and the dark is too dark. The new mediums are the same colour as the old blondes. Grrr.

Love Laura Mercier! They did discontinue two of my favorite products though. I scooped up all of the inventory before it was all gone! I hate discontinuation. Jo Malone did just bring back my favorite fragrance after I begged for three years!

Look for the Mac Powder you like on EBay. When Lancombe discontinued a favorite perfume of mine I was able to buy it on EBay for 3 or 4 years....

O'Oreal stopped making the long LeMatte mauve lipstick I liked better than the short tubes. I can still find the lip pencil (mauve).

Cover Girl's 'mink' brown brow pencil is gone; their replacement brown is too dark.

My favorite lipstick was Desert Pearl by Max Factor....going back to high school. Of course, it was discontinued. I was in a drug store a year or so later and they had many tubes of it, and others, for a dollar apiece. I bought them all. I especially hate buying lipstick. The color never seems to be what you think from looking at it. I've never found a color I like as much as that one.

UGH...Lipstick...forget about it!! I've had a heck of a time find lipstick colors I like. I honestly think after having kids, my lip color has changed...maybe a little more pigment in them...which is fine but I think that has really thrown me off when trying colors. I try and try every time I go to the mall...but nothing floats my boat once I get outside in the light and see how it really looks. Banished to chapstick and Carmex for now LOL

I used to always use loose powder...until Lancôme stopped making the one I liked. At that point I switched over to a pressed powder. I actually used an old Estee lauder compact I had today. I still have a little bit of the MAC Careblend that I'll take with my to compare if I end up shopping around if the Laura Mercier doesn't work out. I've heard a lot of good things about Laura Mercier so fingers crossed it works out.

I have used Merle Norman's translucent loose powder for so many years, I can't even count...since I was a teen. Fingers crossed they don't stop making that because I haven't found anything I like as well.

WHY do companies do this to obvious favorites? I am a Cover Girl Outlast lipstick lover and, of course, they discontinued my favorite color. I'm waiting for them to discontinue my back up color - I know it's coming. I've yet to find a suitable replacement.

Know what you mean. The salesgirl in Macy's told me that Estee Lauder had stopped making the Fresh Air foundation that I've been wearing for 40 years. Fortunately I was able to buy some from Macy's on line so I bought 4 bottles. Go figure I'm not sure she knew what she was talking about.

In case there are people that don't know. If you do a search on Ebay and there are none listed. Activate the save search feature, it will let you know by email anytime that item is listed. It will work until you choose to delete. I have found items months later without doing a search myself. Amazing, the things that get listed, from cleaning out homes . A lot new in the boxes.

I stocked up on a favorite lipstick only to find it went 'bad.' Does anyone else have that problem?
