Comments (1)Hi Brittany, What a lovely entry! I agree that either a console or a bench could work in that spot. If the console is as high as the chair rail, I would find one with a width a few inches shy of the chair rail length. You could place a plant, umbrella stand, or even a one-seat bench/stool beside it. Any of those could echo the stair-step with your furniture. You might look for something circular to hang in the triangle space of wall under the stairs. A mirror or sunburst could be fun. Alternately, you could use the console to lean a rectangular mirror or art against the wall. With a lean, you could overlap the stair trim a bit. (You might still attach it to the wall at the top so it doesn't fall down.) With either a bench or a console, you could just use a runner to connect the front door to the next doorway. Or you could use a rug that fills the space a little more, continuing under the console or bench. For rug size, I would measure off the walls about 6" each and line up the front of it with the bottom of the stairs. That would be the maximum size I would get. Hope that helps! Best of luck. Comments (0)Hi! I need some help figuring out a weird layout in an apartment I am looking at. The main entrance door opens up into a hallway that connects the living space and master bedroom (see image). The issue I have is that when you need to go to your bedroom, you need to pass by the entrance of your unit where there is a lot of outside dirt that comes in from your shoes. I would prefer not to have to pass by the entrance to get to my bedroom, but this is how the apartment is laid out. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do here? The hallway width is about 5.5 feet....See Morenew home entrances idea
Comments (10)Hi everyone that commented. Thank you. First I wanted each room in relation to the sun. The bedroom is on the northwest side wanted it here because of neighbours who don’t keep the nicest yard and no sun on the north. So I only have one window which is in the laundry room. The kitchen table area is south east so I get all the morning sun in the 2 big windows. The great room at the back in the middle north west providing sun in the afternoon. Plus I don’t want to see my neighbours . I wanted 2 bedroom upstairs, bathroom and small loft area for guests. We are grandparent and want the area upstairs for visitors . We wanted only around 2200 sgft and because of high water table can only have a crawl Space. We were aiming for a cottage look with shingles and siding. We wanted 2 story because want to build up and have more grass. Lot is .33 acre. Thank you for your comments I was not 100 percent happy so posted here ( first time for help). This is the only drawings we have they have not gone to the second stage. I am thinking of starting over. This layout design was my own based on the Sun. Thanks again!...See MoreEntryway ideas?
Comments (10)You have a very traditional home, that wall is very modern. I think it would look out of place. There are a ton more ’board and batten”? styles that you could use and would fit in. If you were looking to moving towards a more modern look throughout your home, thats another story. If you like the wood feature wall look, Id consider a square grid or more rectangular. Something more simple, traditional . I like the look tho. You have a beautiful home....See Moreamykath
